I'm almost done watching the whole two seasons of HBO's Rome series. It's very good. There's constant scheming and warring There's frequent harsh & violent retribution for offenses. People are always grasping for more power and money. It's human nature.

I was most interested in Augustus Caesar. I got to see his INTJ'ness. He was definitely an INTJ. They depicted him as being extremely smart and a brilliant strategist. He started with no power and he outmaneuvered everyone to become the emperor. I love seeing an INTJ as the ultimate ruler, with all that wealth and power, escorted by all those Roman soldiers. Yeahhh, that's how it should be :). I recognized some other personality types too. Oh and Augustus Caesar was the best looking Roman emperor as far as I know, the smartest & best looking :) It took an INTJ to create the Pax Romana, 200 years of peace & prosperity.

I also saw the first 2 episodes of Spartacus Blood and Sand. It's like Gladiator and 300 combined. It has the visual style of 300. Lots of sex, blood, battles, very graphic killing. This is a great show too. It's more artistic and action oriented than HBO's Rome. I'm looking forward to the part where Spartacus escapes and starts the slave rebellion.

Gee. I really don't know about Augustus. He's definitely an INTJ, alright, but he becomes an asshole in the second season. I personally prefer Antony later on, and I adore Pullo. Vorenus can be annoying at times (anyone think he's ISTJ?), but it's hard not to like him. Now I want to watch it again!

I just see him as basically doing what he had to do in the context of the vicious ancient Roman world. I think Augustus accomplished many good things and sometimes harsh or brutal measures were required. I loved how he got back at his mother by treating her like she treated him and his sister when he was a kid. She was the one I disliked the most.

It was pretty obvious to me that Marc Antony was an ESTP. I looked it up on the internet and the web sites agreed with me. Pullo was probably an ESTP also, or maybe an ESFP. I don't like the fact that ESTP strongly dislike theory and that they're rather wild. I do admire their ability to just jump in and get things done without messing around. Ultimately I think Marc Antony had to lose out to Augustus because he wasn't as good at strategy.

Yeah I think he's an ISTJ. There were some things about him that reminded me of my father.

The maid who was poisoned, I think she was an ISFJ.
Augustus' mother struck me as an ENFP, or at least the actress was ENFP.
I could see that Julius Caesar was an NTJ. A web site says he was an ENTJ.

It was really easy to tell who the perceivers were, because they're wild, hedonistic, less responsible and pull crazy stunts. The judgers were more concerned about responsibility, tradition, accomplishment, loyalty, and doing the right thing. It was interesting that the perceivers frequently messed things up and came to a bad end, whereas the judgers rose up in power and responsibility and did well. Marc Antony and Cleopatra were both perceivers and ended up having to commit suicide because they messed things up so badly for themselves with their reckless decisions. If Marc Antony simply had quit causing trouble for Augustus, he could have lived.

I can't really dispute what he does; I might have done the same, but I couldn't stop thinking that I'd hate to be his family.

Yeah, Antony was pretty obviously ESTP. I don't think it's that he's not good at strategy. What brought him down was his hubris and his disdain for Augustus. It's obvious that he sees Augustus as a child and has no respect for him when respect is due, not because Augustus is particularly nice- or anything, but because this kid's got brains. Augustus wins at strategy, but Antony was pretty decent himself. I thought Brutus was rather bad. I like Antony because, well, I've always liked ESTPs. He's the typical "ye ol' smoothie" with a dangerous edge.

As for Pullo, I can see both ESTP and ESFP. Leaning more towards ESFP. I don't know. He seems to be bubbling with good will and optimism, while Antony is more witty and cynical. They just seem so different. But Pullo is definitely Fe, which makes him... ESTP?

I didn't like Atia, but I definitely prefer her to Cleopatra. I tend to see both of them as ENFJ, but Cleo is infinitely more annoying. And yes, Julius Caesar is ENTJ as far as I can tell. And Brutus? I see him as ISFJ.
