The 2010 Overall Game of the Year from IGN for 2009 was Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
The video link I provided was of a IGN original music video using original lyrics and all in game footage as a back drop. The video shows the protagonist Nathan Drake issuing a 'battle rap' of sorts to all the would be detractors as well as the other GOTY candidates. The video is censored, but still contains some language that could be considered offensive to sensitive viewers.

Pretty tight lyrics, too. Dug the shit out of that last verse.
edit: By the way. I got a PS3 last year, for GTAIV. Only other game I got is Fallout 3. I never ever read video games news, but when I do, I kinda tend to rely on IGN for my minimal video game buys, so Uncharted 2 is probably next :)

I actually have uncharted 2 sitting around in my room; I turned it on for 5 minutes a week ago, been hoping to get some time to play it soon.

The best low-brow console game, perhaps. I don't even know the name. I assign the title of the best game to Geneforge 5.

Modern Warfare 2 was my personal game of the year. Intense story, great graphics, great gameplay, great writing and cutscenes; the entire game absolutely blew me away. I was genuinely pissed off and close to tears at some parts. With Uncharted 2, I've yet to play it. I only saw someone playing it one night at a party at my friend's place.
That Carol of the Bells sample is straight pimpin'.

Total package I'll give the nod to Uncharted 2 (single player, coop, multiplayer, cutscenes + production values). However, judging strictly on single player story/campaign mode goes to MW2. And that's with Uncharted 2 having a VASTLY superior story top to bottom, but once MW2 hit its stride it really made me care about the characters and that ending is the BEST bar none of any fictional story of any kind in the history of man kind and any undiscovered alien species as well. I was screaming at my television during those last 30 seconds (it was like 1:30 a.m. woke my wife up and she was none too pleased.....lol).

uncharted was a good game. I played it. the newest ratchet and clank was also a good title.
lmao great vid. I actually didn't like uncharted 2 that much. I acknowledge all the work that was put into, the flashiness etc etc, but i just can't stand the game mechanics. Idk, it feels kinda clunky. Oh some guy's signature on gamefaqs.com is
"You can't spell ignorance without IGN."
I love that sig and just thought I'd share it lol

Ted, I think I know what you mean. I grew out of the 'adventure' genre of games back during 'Tomb Raider 47 - Lara's Golden Boy Shorts'. However, I give credit where credit is due, the game was fun and had lots of cheesy whimsical moments. Great cut scenes, voice acting, and a few jaw drop set pieces make it a standout for me. Although the ending was a bit of a let down for my dollar.
Why are there so little platform/adventure games being made in the last years? I allways loved jack&dax, crash bandicoot, toy story, tomb raider. Spyro and Rayman I found fun also but not so much. Zelda and Mario on the 64 I allways enjoyed playing at a friends house. I'm sure I'm forgetting some.
I'm so happy it won.
Way better than Modern Warfare 2.

You should check out "Darksiders," which just came out. I haven't seen it myself, but from what I've read, it may be just what you're looking for.
I didn't think much of it when I saw the first trailers. But the latest trailers blew me away, awesome style and I hear a lot of people really really enjoy playing it. It's a bit like Zelda in a different coat some say.
