I saw where Jezebel had posted the 6 month stats for the forum, and it got me to thinking.

More than anything else, what has surprised me is that we are POLITE here. As INTJs, we're not that way in real life.

There is almost a natural, immediate, unspoken level of mutual respect here (like wolfs or lions meeting?).

Is it that we're more polite here in real life? Or just that what is seen as impolite in real life isn't seen that way by us, therefore in a predominantly INTJ community we just don't see the 'rudeness'?

I dunno. I like the fact that I can say things that other people (ie. non-INTJs) find weird, and here it's not. 'S cool.

Well I've never purposely been impolite, that's for sure. Although, I'm probably impolite, I don't like saying good morning and all that.
Interesting people here, more interesting than real life, of course that warrants respect.

Rewarding things to me:
Seeing new perspectives, ideas, learning, analyzing problems (my own and others), meeting people who are open, that kind of stuff.

Most rewarding to me, I think I've made friends:
one who I can talk about anything
one who I can't stop talking to
one who I can make fun of his pictures

Oh and I must say that problems feel a quite different when alone or with people that don't understand.

How at home I felt... I'm used to constantly censoring my sense of humor, in real life and online, because I'm sure no one will get me. The odd thing is that here, I still don't assume anyone will get me. But I do assume that if people read something from me that's confusing, obnoxious, or otherwise strange, they'll at least be more accepting.

Rick, I'm not "impolite" IRL. I'm actually extremely polite, until I'm given reason to drop the hammer.

But on here, there are probably fewer occassions to be impolite, because everyone seems pretty open, honest, and accepting. The goal of the INTJ is always knowledge, more knowledge...so why burn bridges? Posting on a forum whose typical members have an IQ of about 130 seems like a great idea for people craving deep thought.

Here, I can be myself. I can be overly-verbose and don't have to hide my quirks like I do in real life. I've posted on other forums, and I have a "persona" on those forums. Here, I'm me. Dirty laundry and all.

I also enjoy the cultural diversity here. It's nice knowing I can relate to folks of different cultures, because we've got the common bond in the way we think.

I'm wondering how many have changed their opinions through either reading discussions or being involved in them. Or do we just argue with closed minds?

Most rewarding has been the fact that most people here seem relatively 'normal and balanced' (in contrast to some other forums I've been to), and that the forum is administered and moderated so effectively.

Most unexpected has been the relatively poor standard of debate in the more 'serious' threads, and the paucity of threads which generate intellectual interest for me.

What I find most rewarding about this forum is that I can find people who can understand me here; those who share my troubles, pains and delights in a way no one else can; and certainly would not have understood if I had told them. It's almost like I found confidants with whom I can be completely honest. I think, like most people, I need people who can really understand me and in other words, likeminded people.

Like Colette, I'm sometimes astounded by how many fallacies are used in our 'debates' (not formal, for sure, and there are no moderators, as much as I'd like to have one) and despite many claims of being 'rational', how much emotions are involved in those 'debates' which sometimes turn into personal attacks. Some of the posts aren't so civil :scared:

I think the most rewarding about this forum is to see that I am not alone with this personality type. In addition, there are many more around the world, so it does make it international. I've met a female neighbor [Japanese/Causian] who also is an INTJ. Never had a problem in any conversations, so far just the first time meeting each other; sensory was alittle off to detect it. I've also met a few INTJs off on a few websites before entering here, the majority is around just need to keep your eyes really open. In knowing alittle more about myself and dealing with some of the INTJ personality problems I've faced, for those who did not face that challenge yet. Glad to hear some of those comments or questions; maybe I can answer them. I don't mind welcoming in new INTJs, but now they are coming in the lots :)

Rewarding: finding people with similarities.
Unexpected: that it would run so smoothly.

This is about my tenth visit to the INTJ forum. A short while ago, I was thing that very thing. People here are able to disagree, without being disagreeable. :)
