Is it just me or does anyone else feel that there is not enough knowledge sharing in this forum?

I though that by meeting other INTJs I would be able to see interesting and educational conversations. I'm not saying I haven't found any, for there are some good postings, but it seems that is mainly about how we act, or are, rather than sharing knowledge.

I guess is OK with me, maybe I'm much more weird this days than most of you. Maybe is just that I'm trying to focus on my career so much that everything else doesn't seem to be of interest...

Anyway, I like reading about what others think, and posting some my own views and experiences, but sometimes I'm hungry for some knowledge or more interesting conversations... or even people sharing stories similar to mine.

Don't mind me... I guess I'll just go back to what I really need to concentrate for now... work...

To me an INTJ tends to be focus and is always hungry for knowledge... right now I guess I'm just hungry for IT Sec knowledge...

We all are here to gain knowledge about our personalities. We all have school, work, books etc for other knowledge. I'm only here to learn about other people like me and discuss our commonness with each other, because I don't know another INTJ in the world.

There are two sections of the forum anyways, the psych/social type thing and then the more intellectual ones. If you want knowledge sharing go to the more intellectual ones.

Start a thread and start asking some questions! Just because there isn't a topic on it yet doesn't mean there can't be a new one started.

It's not just you. I consider that there is plenty of 'view/opinion' sharing, but mostly this isn't based on what I would regard either as actual knowledge, or even an evidence-based hypothesis. Mostly it's just "straw man" stuff, and easily ignorable.

Usually I post a little more seriously than I have been of late. Mostly this is due to craziness at work, with family, and various other distractions (including moving house) that have drained me of both physical and mental energy.

Just today though I was reading about Freud's thesis (written around the time of the Anschluss) entitledDie Zukunft einer Illusion - the Future of an Illusion. It seems to be an early exposition (perhaps ahead of its time, and anticipating catastrophic world events) of the notion that humankind is motivated by a fundamentally destructive impulse, and the associated idea that civilization subsists in the overcoming, or transcendence, of this natural and disastrous imperative, that we are lumbered with.

There were various threads I was planning to draw out from Freud's thesis, and to compare it with historicism and sociological thinking of the modern day, and also with some religious and secular views on the nature and future of humankind. I may embark on this project soon, and may also start one on Heidigger's thinking, and his ostensible links to Nazism.

Watch this space :)

PRBori, each of us has different needs and use the forum in different ways. Like HackerX said, if you want "serious information sharing", then start a thread and see what happens.

Me? I'm here to express my "weird side" - to say the kinds of things that I just can't find the space (or comfort zone) to say IRL. I tend to operate in a "stream of consiousness" mode. But, when the topic strikes me, I will drop into serious-mode.

I appreciate your desire for depth and range in the discussions. We await your input!

I have knowledge.

Leucite is a feldspathoid mineral, KALSi2O6. It may be distinguished by polysynthetic twinning. It is found in silicate-poor, potassium-rich volcanic rocks, and never with quartz. It may be confused with analcime, but the latter tends to form in cavities.

I love knowledge and am very acquisitive about it... I tend to stuff my head with ridiculous amounts of crap I will never use, you know, just in case it's interesting or comes in handy someday. It's odd, I do consider myself a big picture person, not a details person, but I get a perverse amount of enjoyment from knowing all the facts about whatever I'm studying.

Wow, this was a useless post.

I think it's not that people here doesn't values knowledge. It's just the selection.

What do I mean?

We came here on a personality basis. We all have specific knowledge that we discuss with other specialists who can understand us, but generally not here. So it's quite natural we write about personality issues.

About Zilal, it wasn't a useless post. Much knowledge lets you deal with many situations and ready for the worst.

Yeah, that's my take on it. I basically joined because I wanted to learn about MBTI issues. I've thought about bringing up various scientific topics, but figured nobody would have enough knowledge about them to make them satisfying for me.

I want to thank you ALL for your reply. I know that this is mainly for talking about our personalities and that I just need to learn to stop thinking about work 24/7. I'm trying hard to take time away from work.

Besides, the area I'm emphasizing on cannot be openly discussed... and not everyone will understand it, so I'll just have to settle down and give myself time-out.

My mom is always fighting with me because I've worked for almost 17 years without a vacation. I guess I should take a break this year and enjoy life for the first time. The only thing in my mind is work. Of course, it's being that way since I was 15 years old when I became completely independent from my parents by moving out to the US a few months after.

So just bare with me... I'm trying to slow down a little, but not too much so as not to fail on my goals for the end of the year.

i wonder how true this rings for other types on this forum. we might take some knowledge for granted because of our shared personality type. we might also need the views of other personality types to solve problems we have difficulty solving.

No sweat, if there's something specific that you'd like to discuss, post away and see what kind of response you get. Let's see if we're really as smart as we like to think that we are.

.

Although it is difficult in this rushed world we live in, it's very important to "enjoy life."

I left home at 17. However, it was probably for different reasons.
