Does anyone here use "dietary supplements"? What kind of effects do you feel? Do you believe that they work?

I take a multi-vitamin, fish oil pills, Ginkgo Biloba (with vinpocetine), and Genseng. I have cheap protein powder as well, but I never use it.

I'm a bit iffy about the effectiveness of the multi-vitamin and the Genseng that I take.

I have no doubts that the fish oil and the Ginkgo Biloba are amazingly effective though. They both have very noticeable and profound affects on my cognitive abilities throughout the day. The fish oil helps maintain my mood and keep me content and happy throughout the day. It also maintains and builds grey matter within the brain. The Ginkgo Biloba greatly improves blood flow and oxygen levels to my brain. As someone with low pressure, I was SHOCKED at how much more aware of my surroundings I was and how I was obviously sharper to stimuli and in social interactions. Ginkgo is freaking amazing for your memory and the overall functioning of your brain. It's probably the single most effective thing I take. I like to take it before I study or go to a class. ;D

I've been meaning to try Ginko, but haven't gotten around to it.
For now, I take flax oil and odorless garlic extract. I had tried fish oil for a while, but it gave me gas . I had also tried a combo of fish, borage, and flax, but still the gas... flax has worked way better for me. I'm going to try something for energy next, I'll post again when I do.

I never see the point in why people take multivitamins. I was taking it a while and never felt anything. Stopped taking it and everything feels the same.

Currently taking:

Bacopa (for nootropic effects)
Ginseng (Tea) (it tastes good and it is supposed to relieve stress)
Ashwagandha (another stress reliever)
Piracetam (for the energy effects)
Fish Oil (I don't feel anything, but since I bought it, I might as well finish it)
Vitamin C (only when I get sick)

Daily multi (sometimes 2) and 1000g of C. Don't feel a "boost" when I take them, but feel a drag when I forget. I would take protein powder but I'm too cheap, so I just eat more frequently.

It's interesting how many people (well relative to how many have responded) use nootropics. I normally only take fish oil, but I ordered some aniracetam a few days ago. I'm anxious to see how well it does or doesn't work.

I didn't know that fish oil is a nootropic until I read about online. My parents use to tell me that fish oil makes increases appetite and promotes growth, but they grew up poor.

Frickles: I read somewhere that choline helps improve the efficacy of -acetams. Are you going to take it with choline?

Spirulina | Decrease in fatigue. Also hair and fingernail growth increased significantly.
Fish oil. | Haven't really noticed anything here.

Fish oil was recommended by my doc to increase my "good" cholesterol, and it worked. There's good fish, and there's bad fish. If you get gas or fishy taste, switch to another one.

I wasn't aware of that fact, but I may try it out. Any particular form of choline I should check out? I can get choline bitartrate dirt cheap from

According to various sources on the internet, people recommend Alpha-GPC, but it is expensive. I haven't tried it with a choline supplement yet; still waiting for my order of cheap choline bitartrate to arrive.
