View Full Version : Werewolves Round 3... FIGHT!
The Maelstrom
10-31-2009, 05:15 PM
Game starts in 2hrs and 15 minutes officially, but since you all already have your roles and I'm in a hurry I'll set up the thread now.
In the small, quiet hamlet of Firm Junto, a tragedy has unveiled itself with the breaking of the dawn...
The town's local hero Dan Peel, a Vampire Slayer, has been found a bloody corpse in the town square.
His magic longsword standing with tip buried in the ground by it's master's side; it burns with a lust for vengeance.
A handful of local townsfolk, slain by the blade, lie in heaps nearby...
But the markings are strange... strange indeed. Vampires are cleaner than this remark some of the townsfolk.
The extensive lacerations and half eaten organs can only mean one thing!
Werewolves!
With the dead townsfolk littering the square, the pack seems thinned, but how many are left? And under what guise are they hiding...?
How to play:
Tailored from Elfrun's:
The Game
DAY (24 hours): All players have one day to decide which player they want to see hang. Discussions/accusations/threats all happen in the thread and votes can be made at any stage during that period. Please note you can change your vote all you want up until the deadline just please be sure to bold your votes and add the +++ tag so they stand out.
e.g.: I vote +++ Player Name
ONLY BOLDED AND TAGGED VOTES WILL COUNT! Don't have time for y'all's jibba-jabba if I can't find it quickly.
Day phase ends with one player being sent to the gallows, if they die their role is publicly revealed and then the night time phase begins.
NIGHT (24 hours): During the night, all the villagers with night abilities let me know their target and the wolves (and vampires if applicable) let me know who they want to eat. At the end of night phase I will announce the target of the wolf (and/or vampire) attack and if killed also announce their role. That means; the target will be revealed even if NOT KILLED. The target's role (if not killed) will NOT be revealed.
The villagers win if they eliminate the werewolves, the wolves win if they bring the villagers' numbers down to theirs at the end of a day. If vampires are playing, the same applies, although the vampires and wolves must not only equal any remaining villagers, but must be rid of the other evil team as well. If its down to just wolves and vampires, one must outnumber the other for a win. A tie between the werewolves and vampires is a loss for both (as well as, clearly, the villagers... who would be dead by then :p)
The Rules
You must stay loyal to your team.
If you die you are dead, meaning do not reveal ANY information/suspicions/accusations, etc... with regards to the game. An active player may privately tell inactive players their role at their own risk, YOU CANNOT REVEAL ANYONE ELSE'S. I expect them to keep quiet should they come into such knowledge. All dead people can do in the game is haunt with meaningless words of vengeance and/or support (do not support a decision, support a lynching or mauling that has ALREADY taken place). Please refrain from excessive haunting ;)
EXAMPLES OF ACCEPTABLE HAUNTING:
*wolf gets lynched*
Dead Player says: "Hah! Take that wolfie!" or "Right on!" etc...
EXAMPLES OF UNACCEPTABLE HAUNTING:
*mason gets mauled*
Dead Player says: "I knew it! I knew those three were the masons!" Notice there is no definition of who the other two of "those three" are, this is nonetheless inappropriate.
or
Dead Player says: "Nice! You and and "Player Name" are going down!" is, clearly, inappropriate.
or
Dead Player addresses an active player: "Well you're the hunter." = inappropriate.
If ANY inactive player(s) reveals, hints, suggests, makes an allegation or in any way discloses any input about a player's or a group of ANY OTHER PLAYERS' ROLES they will be barred from the next game. This includes other inactive players and their allegiances.
Proxies:
You may resort to a proxy if absolutely necessary. This cannot include any active player, aka alive in game, nor can it include any player with group knowledge of an opposing team. That means you can't get a dead mason to proxy for a wolf for example. Dead villagers can proxy for one player on either side. A dead Seer cannot proxy for anyone.
PROXIES CANNOT PROXY FOR MORE THAN ONE PERSON AND THEY MUST REMAIN SILENT PUBLICLY AND PRIVATELY ABOUT ANY INFORMATION THEY OBTAIN DURING THEIR TENURE UNTIL AFTER THE GAME IS OVER.
Villagers (includes masons outside of emergency meeting) can only talk in this thread.
The Roles
EVIL 3 Werewolves - You vote as a pack on who to maul at night. You will be given a forum for private discussions at all times.
INNOCENT 9 Villagers, including;
3 Freemasons - you are part of a secret organization and each know the identities of the other Freemasons. They can only communicate publicly with the exception of one emergency meeting that will be activated as soon as the GM receives the request from at least half the remaining masons. This does not mean you can PM each other to see if its a good time. You're going to have to interpret the situation and your fellow masons' needs/ideas in the public game and PM the GM individually. Upon PMing the GM, you will have 10 minutes to cancel your request. If no other masons join the request, you can cancel at any time before they join up. After at least half of the masons have requested an emergency meeting, they will all be notified within 5 minutes via PM (after the initial 10 minute delay period) with a link to the masons' lodge to be used for a 24 hr period, after which it will be locked.
1 Seer - each night select one player, the narrator will privately reveal the alignment of that player, NOT their role should they prove to be an innocent. If Vampires are involved, you will only know whether a Werewolf or Vampire is EVIL
1 Healer - each night select one player, if that player was the target of the werewolf/vampire attack for that night, they will be protected and not die
1 Lawyer - each night select one player, if that player is chosen to be lynched the during the coming day, they are saved by the lawyer
1 Hunter - if the hunter is killed, they chose another player to take out with them - they have a 1hr time limit for an assured kill, and a 10hr limit (from time of mauling or lynching) for a coin toss on whether or not their shot kills the target. After this the hunter CANNOT kill anyone.
1 Necromancer - an innocent who can manipulate the dead. The necromancer can revive a dead player one time, and one time only and must make a joint decision with the undead on who they want to kill within 24 hrs. Reviving a player must be announced to the GM via PM. If the dead person doesn't get in contact with you or reach a decision within the 24 hr period, you lose the chance to kill someone. You must first PM me the player to be revived, and then I will notify them. Once that is done the 24hr period begins where you have to both agree to kill someone. The revived player will be announced in passing, but they will not be participating in the thread nor will the Necromancer be revealed in any manner.
1 Thief - a villager who has a one off ability to steal a role off a corpse, at any stage in the game the thief can privately request the role of the next player to be successfully lynched along with any information they had been given by the narrator (i.e. all the results of the seer's sights). There will be a public announcement of the role that has been stolen as well as an announcement that the thief has taken control of it. This means the thief can become a wolf. The thief will ONLY get the role of the NEXT person to be lynched. Thus, you cannot take the role of someone lynched just a minute ago, you must decide beforehand.
Additionally there is 1 Judge role (a villager whose vote counts twice in the event of a tie) this is not a fixed role, if the judge is killed or their power used it will be inherited randomly by another innocent (but not the thief).

Times
Each day/night period will end at GMT 02:30.
DISCLAIMER:
It is also a good idea to contact the current GM, The Maelstrom, between 22:30 and 11:00 GMT. That means 4 hours prior to lynchings/maulings, and 8.5 hours after lynchings/maulings. Be a shame that I don't get to your requests asap. The one exception to this is in a week's time from Friday November 6th in the morning to Sunday November 8th afternoon where the time frame will be 22:40 to 2:40 GMT. Normal times will resume by Sunday November 8th at 22:30 GMT.
The poll will just be for quick reference of who is dead (if I can get a mod to alter it daily :p) NOT for voting.
Our werewolves have been infected and the villagers have received their special abilities, questions that may reveal your role can be asked in private if needed and answers will be posted publicly. The game will commence with a day period at GMT 02:30 today with a dead NPC, happy hunting. *salutes*

Walking into town is the famous monk and exorcist, Kisai Miroku.
Of course, he's actually famous for his amazing lechery, not particularly for demon hunting.
He walks carefully into town, head bowed low.
"Fear not, townspeople. I have come to purge the evil from your quaint village. Your women shall grow old and bear me many, many children."
He passes towards Elfrun.
"Milady, these strong arms are here to hold you. But stay your quivering form. Tis' not werewolves that make you weak and shudder, but the presence...of a real man."

I never notice when daylight savings changes. All the devices I use for telling time (my phone, my computers, my mp3 player) change automatically.
I wonder who changes all the analog clocks at my school when daylight savings happens, because I just looked up at the clock in the lab and it's accurate. I mean, it's the weekend. Who does that sort of stuff? Maybe it's not actually analog. Maybe it's connected through the wall and controlled by a computer

6 votes for nostoneunturned means either the villagers are super organised and voting as one with the masons or more likely there are wolf votes for them in there as well, now which is more likely?
Kisai
11-01-2009, 03:09 PM
12 players. 3 weres 3 masons 6 unaligned. Neither wolf nor mason would want a member taken out, even if they were silent.
But its a serious pain in the tuckus to be trying to be garnering votes on the third day from unresponsive villagers... So its still to our advantage to let a villager who's not going to vote to be gone now, rather than later...

jm123
11-01-2009, 03:13 PM
Yeah my guess is that nostoneunturned is a villager. However, either way, what is the point of keeping a nonactive player in the game? We have crappy odds anyway you shake it, taking out a wolf is 25%, not that good of odds. We might as well take out the quite kid in the corner.
(Heck my guess right now is that anyone we lynch, will be a villager)
So come on down nostoneunturned and post, so we can have ourselves a real witch hunt.
Synchronicity
11-01-2009, 03:19 PM
I agree with jm. With such a high ratio between wolves and villagers, we're not likely to find a wolf this early in the game, especially since we have no information. Might as well use this time to trim the undesirables.
Looks like I should just abstain from this lynching since it looks like it'll be NoStoneUnturned
larkin
11-01-2009, 03:23 PM
why abstain?
Elfrun
11-01-2009, 03:28 PM
why abstain?
Cause they're probably a villager.
I don't necessarily disagree with the idea, it was disappointing having inactive players last round, but based on how many people are voting that way they are most likely a villager, the block voting has already given us some information. Why kill someone who looks most like a villager when we can gain much information in the first round because only 6 people should have information?
Can a mod please tell us if they've even looked at the thread? If they have then so be it, if they haven't maybe they don't even realise things have started.

You mean you didn't consider just using the in thread search for counting the votes? So you could search a list of all the posts with just the votes and could just view and count them in one go?
And the reason I considered +++ bad was because + joins search terms together and thus isn't searchable in the search form... but you're doing it the long way, so carry on then.
Well we could have done boogaboogabubblegum. Nobody would say that for any other reason. Probably.

I wonder what would happen if someone were to claim to be a wolf.
I've seen it happen before, I was a wolf, and so was the person claiming to be mafia (wolf)... people didn't believe him!
He wanted out and was lynched but he had to say over and over again that he was, in fact, mafia.
That is good, as you are on my suspect list as well. I do not trust people who always use the stalker feature. :p
Oh and btw, I am not a wolf. I've always been in wolf in previous games I've played and have never once stated that I wasn't a wolf, I also have a super hard time lying, I prefer misdirection and am not inclined to lie unprompted... fwiw (which I know isn't much).

Well, shouting out tips on how to pick up the wolves to the wolves themselves isn't really going to help us find them...
My guess would be that 2, if not all 3, of the wolves are voting for me. I will post my explanation for this in a few mins after this post.
If this is true, such narrows a guess down to a 1/4 pick, if not 1/2.4.

Problem with that is the people most likely to believe are the wolves as they know everyone's alignment and can pick up on any subtle hints we give about our roles waaaaaaaay easier than we can, night kills will be directed at the players they think are masons and the seer, therefore anyone hinting about or revealing their role without a damn good reason ie seer needing healer protection after a, or several, wolves have been uncovered puts all other villagers in a tougher position.
Villagers should be trying to find the wolves without giving them too much information.

The list has been fixed a bit. This would make the odds even better. The wolves are going to want to vote together to make sure none of them get targeted. Also, a wolf is more likely to go with the flow to avoid suspicion. Lastly, their vote is less meaningful (to them) so they would be more willing just to throw it away without as much thought.
I would vote for AZ. She seemed to just go with the flow in the voting without much necessity in her decision. It is the most rational choice I have right now.
