Do you wait a while? Or do you just do it immedietely, like homework for instance. I usually like to just get things done as quick as I can. I never wait, and i NEVER ask for help. Do you guys ask for help when youre working on something? I dont. And i believe, if you want something done right, do it yourself.

I wait until the last minute. Generally it works out pretty well regardless, and I do have a stigma against asking anyone for help. But I've learned that sometimes, I have to swallow my pride and ask when it's something that needs clarification, or a field that is completely out of my scope. Otherwise there's an excellent chance that I'll end up overlooking something.

If it's something that I'm very interested in, I usually do it immediately. For schoolwork/studying for exams, though, I do it as late as possible, sometimes overshooting deadlines or not doing it at all. And I don't usually ask for help, too...

Elementary school - I liked all homework - I'd do it ASAP. Parents would help me study some. Never asked though.
I did homework pretty much ASAP in middle school/high school though I'd have a bit more and didn't like it as much.
Parents would help in middle school in classes I didn't have strengths like proof reading essays.
By high school I got annoyed with parents helping me (they could only do so in English, no other subject by now and actually the one time I did ask - I got the question wrong) and did everything on my own. NEVER asked for help.
By College - I procrastinate, I do some here, some there before, I'll start ahead on most things since I *have* to now. Freshman year I didn't have to. It was like high school. I didn't have to work to ace classes. Now I have to work *hard* for Bs.
Freshman year and sophomore year - NEVER asked for help.
This year - Finally broke down and asked.
I get things done by the time they're due no matter what.
I have so much to do though it's impossible not to procrastinate and impossible to procrastinate very late in some senses too.

I procrastinate a lot, but I also spend a lot of time away from the project thinking about how I want it to be.

Depends on what I'm doing. Small stuff or things that don't require thinking or things I don't care about sure - I dive right in.
If I'm doing something that I really like then it's weird but I'll wait for the perfect mindset. It's weird but I have to be thinking a certain way to give a topic the respect it needs. I want something clean and pure not something that's full of BS.

Usually I wait untill like 11pm the night before it should be finished, but if Im motivated I do it as soon as possible. I don't ask for help either.

that's exactly what i do. I like to begin preliminary research as soon as possible, and let the ideas germinate. but somtimes, I put off things until its too late, so I am learning to shoot for an imaginary deadline that gives me a little comfort room.
I want to go to grad school next year, an I worry if my study skils are up to the task.

For schoolwork, I tend to put things off if I have no real interest in them (or if I know the entire course schedule, I'll do everything exactly 1 week in advance so I have a good slacker-buffer going on). When I was in high school I did all my homework right before classes while I was waiting, and it worked well. :P
If it's something interesting, I usually finish it early.
If it's pay-work, I finish it ASAP.

Like a few have mentioned, "it depends". If I *know* I can get away with not doing something for a while, I'll put it aside to do other things that need doing 'now'. Or for things I enjoy more.
I suspect that my procrastination isn't near as procrastinatory as a P though :P

I tend to put off things like homework (if I do said homework), but most other things I go ahead and do.
and I NEVER ask for help. I will find it myself or guess.

I am liberal studies major with a business focus, and I plan to get a writing certificate, and then I have been looking at Applied Communication or maybe an MFA in creative nonfiction. What is yours?
Intersestingly, it hard to pin me down. I've had a lot of majors, from math to English. History almost snagged me, but something seemed to be missing, and I still don't know what it is. I tried psychology, but their were too many conflicts and the field changes, but the professors act like that whatever is current will always be. I probably should have leaned towards philosophy, but i I never did, and I don't know why. I will graduate in the spring with around 190 credits from a half-a-dozen schools. Besides INTJ, I am seriously bi-polar.
I remember reading about a programme producer (?) who worked for one of the main TV channels in the US.
Basically, it was explained that most people think of something to develop for a programme and they go out and do it. However, this guy would go into his office and obviously ponder over a number of ideas for quite a number of days. The bosses would be somewhat bemused as it would appear there was no activity.....
However, after a week or two thinking he'd rapidly put his final idea into play and put together the programme. It was often far better than his colleges.....
[I think most NT could understand this type of behaviour far more than the ST behaviour of getting quick points on the board].

Absolutely. i prefer spontaneous germination and prolonged and lesurely gestations. And to think that I am accused of daydreaming, when i am empire building. I've been playing Sims all my life.

I love getting an assignment done ahead of time because then I can have the left-over time to myself to do whatever I want. That's my biggest motivator.
*cough*
I'm a really bad procrastinator. I just get sidetracked by things a whole lot. And I can't do one thing at one time, I constantly have several things on my desktop/computer at the same time, and I switch b/w them after another random thought pops up.
Research essays are the worst. I have to start WEEKS ahead of time if I want to get it done.
In fact, I have one due tonight, and I don't even have a thesis yet.

I procrastinate all the time, but I also force myself to think about what needs to be done periodically up until I do it. So if I have an essay to write for homework, I’d be on and off thinking about how to do it; planning ahead. When it comes time to work on it, all that forethought guarantees it’s easier to get done in time.
But this makes a problem. The perfectionist in me likes to extend the forethought stage. I used to convince myself to outright neglect some tasks. Because of this, I once didn’t lift a finger to finish my culminating paper (gr 11). I saw it as a “do it perfectly or not at all” situation, and couldn’t see myself making it perfect within the time made available. Nowadays I can break this habit by jumping right into lofty assignments, finish very short crude drafts, and then building up with revision until it’s really good.
I ask for help only when I don’t know things. If something is just unclear, I’ll make time to consult my notes or the resource I learned it from. Generally speaking, I don’t bother studying what’s already in my head. If I were to write an exam, I’d rather do mediocre on it then spend a lot of time studying beforehand.
I'm definitely a do it the very last second whore. But if it really has my interest I would do it straight away. I even wait for the very last minute before going to the hairdresser.
I do think that putting things off is generally a bad thing and it definitely has caused me some grief. Especially when something was kinda important or it would bother or worry me I would still wait for the very last moment. Today I don't do that anymore and if I know that something will bother me I will get it over with as soon as possible.

For homework type things, I'd get it over with as soon as possible, usually in the class its given or during lunch or something. When I got home, I'd wish to forget about school. The only stuff that I wouldn't do that for would be some kind of writing assignment, if it was of the longish and research-oriented sort. For that, I would attempt to keep it out of my brain until the last feasible moment, which is when I'd thrive on the, "Ack! Two seconds left!" rush, always with an unconventional spin on the topic. Also, I'd never ask for help. Ick. I've listened with at least half an ear to the teacher, I've got the textbook, library, and internet. What else would I need? The slim pickings to be had in the brains of those around me? No thanks.
For work type things, I enjoy multi-tasking. I am a unit secretary working two I. C. U. floors at the same time. Translating doctor orders, talking on phones, sorting paperwork, messing on computers (sometimes on this site) all at the same time. Very fun. Except when I have to deal with some patient's relatives. ::) Everything has to be done quickly and efficiently. I merely have to attach priorities. It's nice when I gots to some at least halfway intelligent lackeys to do some of the simpler tasks. Other than that, I have no large problem with asking for help when I have no idea what I'm doing. Why would I? Ha! I shall absorb the knowledge, never needing to ask again! They merely serve to make me more powerful! ::)

I do it in the last days before the deadline ends or the exam begins. I tried so many times to do essays or to start learning for exams some weeks earlier but after all I ended up doing it in the last night as other things distracted me from doing what I should do *sigh*. And I can tell you the less hours to the exam the more excited I get. In this phase nothing can distract me even sleep or food. Fortunately, this is method is the most efficient one at the moment. ^^#

I want to get it done as soon as possible and have it out of my way, but almost every time, I procrastinate until the last minute. Last year was horrible- every time I had an assignment due, I would have to stay up literally all night to get it done, because I couldn't even get focused before around 10 p.m.-midnight the night before it was due. This year, the latest I've stayed up working on something is around 1 a.m., so I've improved a lot. It's really hard for me to get motivated to do something that I'm expected to do, and it's so frustrating because by the time I really get into my work, I have to rush through it to get it done on time, whereas if I had gotten into it earlier, I would've been able to spend an adequate amount of time on it. I still do well in school though (dean's list every year so far), but I always wonder how much better I could do if I could only focus properly...

I have to assess each task and its deadline, then schedule each task. I always get things done on time! Always!
This may sound arrogant, but that's me! I have to get things done on time or I get guilty feelings.

I got pretty good at estimating how long an assignment is going to take me... so I'd procrastinate until that special time approached where if I stopped working, my assignment would be late.
It's funny that I see a lot of us don't ask for help. I'd never ask either. If I was given say a physics assignment that I had some trouble with, I'd often just not do it. Other people would play 'library tag' as I called it and they would swarm over each other in some kind of answer copying orgy. Since I never participated, most people were baffled when I'd ace exams/tests. What's the point in copying? It's not like they're learning anything, as their exam scores showed. If you're given an assignment and you can't do it, you should take the hit to the marks. Any monkey can go to a professor to get help or copy an answer from someone else. As a result of this, I did rather poorly in university hahaha. But I'm proud to say I got through on my own. :D
