View Full Version : WEREWOLVES v2: The Game
Elfrun

The Game
DAY (48 hours): All players have two days to decide which player they want to see hang, discussion/accusations/threats all happen in the threads and votes can be made at any stage during that period. Please note you can change your vote all you want up until the deadline just please be sure to bold your votes so they stand out.
Day phase ends with one player being sent to the gallows, if they die their role is publically revealed and then night time phase begins.
NIGHT (24 hours): during night all the villagers with night abilities let me know their target and the wolves let me know who they want to eat, at the end of night phase I announce the target of the wolf attack and if killed also announce their role.
The villagers win if they eliminate the werewolves, the wolves win if they bring the villager's numbers down to theirs at the end of a day.
More info here (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 15 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.).
The Rules
You must stay loyal to your team.
If you die you are dead, meaning stfu!
Villagers can only talk in this thread.
The Roles
EVIL 5 Werewolves
INNOCENT 11 Villagers, including;
5 Freemasons - freemasons are a secret organisation and each know the identities of the other freemasons, they can only communicate publically
1 Seer - each night select one player, the narrator will privately reveal the alignment of that player
1 Healer - each night select one player, if that player was a target of the werewolf attack they will be protected and not die
1 Lawyer - each night select one player, if that player is chosen to be lynched the next day they are saved by the lawyer
1 Hunter - if the hunter is killed they chose another player to take out with them
1 Miller - an innocent who appears guilty to a seer detection [just for fun]
1 Thief - a villager who has a one off ability to steal a role off a corpse, at any stage in the game the thief can privately request the role of the next player to be successfully lynched along with any information they had been given by the narrator (ie all the results of the seer's sights). There will be a public announcement of the role that has been lynched as well as an announcement that the thief has taken control of it, this means the thief can become a wolf.
Additionally there is 1 Judge role (a villager whose vote counts twice in the event of a tie) this is not a fixed role, if the judge is killed or their power used it will be inherited randomly by another innocent (but not the thief).

Well, there's a 31.25% chance of lynching a werewolf on the first go, and since we have no idea who is who right now, I say we draw names out of a hat "The Lottery (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 15 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.)" style :p

If LAST game's end time was 18:00GMT, and we were supposed to do killings at 2pm my time, which somehow should've been 3pm , then this time lynchings are at 23:30 my time?

*ponders*You know what also makes sense?
For Elf to put the two of you on the same team, given what happened last time. She knows Seriously would be out for revenge, and TM would be her target. To prevent premature disruption, the obvious move is to pair you and make you allies, albeit behind the scenes, instead of opponents.
That way you both can keep the trash talk, because it won't have much real meaning.

Do you mean rep messages? If so nope, the idea is to keep it all in the thread, trying to code your messages and working out a plan with everyone watching is part of the game. That said I can't see rep comments and if no one reports you to me I'd have no way of knowing. If they do report you however, you'll die a mysterious and excruciatingly painful death, something weird like gout or scurvy ;)

The Judge role is now in play. If you are an innocent (but not the Thief) you may receive a PM stating you are the Judge at some point in the game. If the Judge role is used to break a tie or the current Judge is killed it will automatically be randomly reassigned, I will not notify you I will simply state in thread that the role has been used/killed and reassigned. So no one can use the wording of my PM as a tactic this is what it says:
You are the [first] innocent to be given the role of judge, this is not a fixed role and will only last until used or you are killed in game at which point it will be reassigned.
In the event of a tie your vote will automatically count twice, in the event that there is a tie and you have not voted for any of the tied players I will request that you immediately send me the name of the tied player you would judge as needing to be hung by the neck until dead.
Two conditions for the Judge role:
1. You can not reveal that you are or were the judge (exceptions are made for general vague in-game deception).
2. The Judge role can only be given to an innocent.
Judge wisely.

Indeed there is... But there is also a host of information from those who suggest the lynchings, which is how I choose to play, there are two sides to every coin and one side isn't always the right way. And I'll be damned if I can't be just a little bit obnoxious during the game, let me have my fun. It is a game after all. ;D
I read through the previous posts and your record begs to differ, yes i noticed when you mentioned me, but I also remembered that you have accused at least one other person and implied lynching those who hadn't posted yet...
I am playing the game, in fact I am questioning your motives as to why you choose to go from person to person so often, it's like you're trying to dispel interest in yourself, I find that suspicious...

I picked my pick on people who are doing nothing but lazing about eating and drinking in the thread. they aren't contributing much and that is what werewolves do. laze about eating and drinking all the time. then they run out of food and start killing people to eat.
I dunno, if I was a wolf (and clearly I'm not) then I'd probably be pointing fingers and muckraking and causing confusion in the thread instead of staying quiet. It's what wolves do. So maybe those who aren't saying anything are the innocents?
I too am torn about not voting for azzie.
You could have a point, her new avatar has fangs after all. And is called Nibbler.
I know, she's not using my nibbler with a white bkg... :(
Maybe we should vote for her.

yeah, it's been failing. It doesn't seem like people are playing the game. they're pretending this is the two drink minimum thread or something. it's rather disappointing.
I don't think the game is failing, more like the deadline isn't near enough to pick someone to lynch.
If I were a freemason, I'd dunno if I'd want to rule the village with an iron fist. More like I'd like to ferret out the evil werewolves.

phej's got a point. We're still 31 hours from dusk and we have no information except what we were given at the start. What else is there to do but randomly point fingers at people?
I've already put my vote in and I'm sticking to it. I'm sure things will get much more interesting once we've had our first fatality.

Yes, I am voting against TM. I may change my vote at the last minute, but only if TM somehow gets off the hook and is unlikely to be lynched, in which case my vote would probably be better used on someone else.

The first (or 3rd, or 5th) kill is random. After accusations are made, and necks are broken, and innocent or woolfie hang, are patterns going to emerge. The nature of the game is to look innocent, and avoid the noose or claw. ALTHOUGH, masons and werewolfs are going to have more insight.

That statement only makes sense coming from a wolf. If I was a wolf then I'd want to get the freemasons to reveal themselves and pick them off first. There is a difference between finger pointing to get conversation going and voting early to try and sway everyone else's votes. Which is what you have done. Very wolf-like.

Wolf or no, everyone has an incentive to make sure someone else gets the vote.
The statement only makes sense when you realize that it was a joke. There's no reason for a Freemason to want his brethren revealed or killed.

yup, 10 people out of the 16 have a better idea of what is going on than the remaining 6. I think patterns do emerge when people have been killed if you are lucky enough that Freemasons or Wolves are the ones taken out. then you can kind of get an idea of what cliques exist by analyzing voting patterns. Although I think it takes a couple day phases to really see those patterns. the first voting phase is meaningless as people tend to come together to lynch someone just to get the ball rolling.

is it possible to attach a poll to a thread and then erase it and add a new poll a couple days later. that might be the easiest way to do the voting thing. it gets messy when in the thread. I thought that was a great way to do the sign up.

Sure. I could add a poll and then edit it for each round, I think. I'll do it for this first round anyway.
Everyone should still announce their vote in thread in bold (since the poll will be erased each round and we need to know who voted for who in the previous rounds), but the poll will make the tally easier for the narrator.

you can see who votes. if a non player were to vote their name would be in the voting and the numbers would not add up to 16.

Right, I can't control who votes, but I just added in bold letters that the poll is only for those playing the game. The poll is public so the names of the people who vote will be visible.
I'm not sure if I can edit the poll to reuse it or not, I'll try after the first round. If that doesn't work then maybe I can do some merge magic or something.

Eh... I dunno. With a public poll sure, we could get a quick display of votes but I see two issues with this:
1. the DM accidentally jumps the gun based on the votes and misses an outsider vote that shouldn't count.
2. last minute changes in voting: is the poll re-voteable? It could be another cause for confusion with last minute changes.

No, you can't make last minute changes for the poll, only use it for your final vote. You still need to announce your vote in thread as well. The poll is just a quick visual and to make things a bit easier for the narrator.

It does seem like an unfair advantage. It was great to get everyone's insights and when we were chatting about who's who, it was illuminating. Perfect for me, having never played before.
The dark side always gets some edge. But it will be their ultimate downfall. They SHALL hang, resistance is futile.

The quick check will still have to be followed up by a check of the actual vote in-thread.
On that note I have an idea:
We could put a symbol beside our vote so Elfie can just ctrl+f the symbol and find votes immediately. I still think they should be bolded, but the find/search option would be useful.
Maybe something like +++ Player Name
