I guess I'm nosey. I'd really like the stats on number of people banned and reason - though I realise it's none of my business.
(bloody hell, I posted this in the wrong place, for some reason I have trouble finding thread starter link)

There are 35 names on our ban list but several of them are duplicate accounts made in an attempt to evade the first ban. I'm not going to go through it to figure out the exact number of individuals.

No established member has ever been banned so far, although we would not be averse to doing so if they are being excessively disruptive despite warnings. We try to catch the accounts before they become established and litter the forum with their posts. Most bans happen shortly after registration. Most banned accounts are spammers, trolls, advertisers, and the blatantly stupid that we don't see being anything more than an annoyance.

Hmm, so what's your definition of a troll? I mean, is it like a baiter trying to get you to respond to his query?

BTW, I like your forum software. Smileys could use work (they look about as appealing as the default SMF smileys), but all-in-all sure beats the run-O-the-mill SMF... KUDOS!

Lol it's not really an INTJ thing to get booted out of forums & I doubt any other type of person would enter this forum other than some INTP wannabes.

Thanks for that reply, Jezebel. Can I ask...are you pleased with the development of the forum, does the continuing increase in membership align with your projections?

I disagree. I'm not an INT of either type. As for why I'm here? Well, I know a disproportionate number of INTJs, and wondered if I could figure out why that is. I still haven't figured it out, but I solidified that I know I like INTJs.

Not to mention I have no intention of wanting to be a INTJ. lol

I think it's too much to ask of the admin/mod team to list/justify all their actions. They're all reasonable and I respect their actions

Look it up. The standard definition applies. We use no special one here.

Smileys could use work (they look about as appealing as the default SMF smileys)
Then why do you add them to almost every post you make?

I'd say it's common for INTJs to get booted from forums. However, our decisions to boot members are independent of type.

I doubt any other type of person would enter this forum other than some INTP wannabes.
False. We already have a fair amount of other types here, as well as some self proclaimed INTJs that are likely mistyped.

are you pleased with the development of the forum
Yes.

does the continuing increase in membership align with your projections?
Yes.

I was trolling you! Well, trying to anyway. In hindsight, it wasn't really all that good of an effort.

Then why do you add them to almost every post you make?

Better than nothing...I've been adding non-forum smileys lately. My board is currently down, otherwise I would probably just use all those smileys... Nothin says love like the crack-smoker emoticon!

Anyway, keep up the good work ;D

You are an exception, but there are pretty much no non-INTJs. Maybe a few INTPs, you, and the occasional other type. I really don't understand why other people would want to be on this forum, I understand your motive. I would never want to go onto an INTP forum or any other types.

Again, this off topic as it has nothing to do with banning.

Why would nonINTJs come here? Because:

We have discussion topics on this forum that have nothing to do with MBTI.
Not every MBTI type has their own forum.
Other types might come here to understand INTJs better, as many have friends, partners, coworkers and so on that are INTJs.
Other types might hang out here because they enjoy interaction with INTJs.
Other types might be inaccurately typed as INTJ, or might be unsure and want to interact with them to see if it fits.

We have around 96 members that have a type listed other than INTJ:

INTP - 57
ENTJ - 4
ENTP - 6
INFP - 18
INFJ - 12
ENFP - 8
ENFJ - 1
ISTP - 4
ESTJ - 1
ISTJ - 4
ISFJ - 1

As you can see, there are more than a couple INTPs and we have several other types here as well. While this is only a small percentage of the total members here, it would be inaccurate to say that other types do not have interest and never register. I don't care if you don't want to go to forums for other types, but don't presume that everyone else follows the same motivations.

Whoa- We have ISFJ! Yay! I can hardly find them anywhere online. On MBTI Central, when asked where are ISFJ's, no one answered.

lol. I'm married to an ISFJ, there's a reason why they don't respond. Ever tried to get them to follow some idea you came up with out of the blue? it's like pulling teeth.

They're watching reality TV and discussing it ad nauseum with friends ??

Let's look at the facts. Non-INTJ's on the forum are largely here because of either
1. they want to understand INTJ's
2. they're mis-typed as INTJ's
3. they're of close type with no forum (eg: INTP's)

2 and 3 are RIGHT out, and while most ESFJ's I know profess to having no understanding of how we tick they also rarely seem to care to remediate that. I've grown to prefer they remain that way too...

INTP's have their own forum, but our plans for world domination require that we infiltrate the competition, so to speak.

Uh I dunno... it's hard to pick a fight at INTP Central. People there don't get angry. They just reply with weirder replies in response to your weird comment that was intended to get them mad.

INFJ - 12
ENFP - 8
ENFJ - 1
ISTP - 4
ESTJ - 1
ISTJ - 4
ISFJ - 1

Mmmmm patterns... it's interesting how "IN"s dominate this list, followed by "NT" and then "NF", "ST" and finally "SF".
And that the Perceivers outnumber the Judgers in every group (e.g. ENTJ v ENTP, ENFP v ENFJ etc.) since Ps "like to understand and adapt to the world rather than organize it".

Which suggests that this list rather validates the whole MBTI personality thing, in so much that an INTJ forum attracts other people of a presumably similar MBTI profile...

... and conversely, that INTJs appear uninteresting to "SF"s, 'though this group could be disinterested with forums and the internet at large too.

This "forum and internet filter" could be valid since there are 20 extroverts in that list compared with 96 introverts. 96/ 20 = 5x more introverts on the list despite their representing c. 25% of the population, suggesting a significant filtering effect occuring.

So the key variables affecting that list appear to be a combination of:
1. Degree of affiliation with INTJ traits and
2. "Forum and internet filter" effect.

And since those variables are likely to remain unchanged in the future, you could say there'll always be a consistently tiny fraction of non-INTJs relative to INTJs on the forum... making the non-INTJs all the more precious!!

Oops- off topic... and possibly very boring to our resident SF.
*switches off INTJ analysis mode*.

INTP's have their own forum, but our plans for world domination require that we infiltrate the competition, so to speak.

Then it's already an unfair competition to start with because according to many sources, INTP's are already more numerous.

Uh I dunno... it's hard to pick a fight at INTP Central. People there don't get angry. They just reply with weirder replies in response to your weird comment that was intended to get them mad.

I can say I hardly ever get mad on forums because honestly, most of the comments don't mean much to me. Unless I'm being slandered, mistreated or discriminated against, that is, but my posts don't show it. If someone suggests that I should compromise my interests for someone else, though, like the state, then I would not be too happy about that, but then again, I make my posts calm and controlled. I can say I've opened up a lot since I found the forum, but I'm still a relatively private person.

I'd say it's common for INTJs to get booted from forums. However, our decisions to boot members are independent of type.

Interesting. But why is that though?

i guess i would be INFJ #13. i'm here simply because i like the ideas of INTJ's, having a few of them as pretty good friends, and seems we get along pretty well. so, i'd thought i would check this place out.
no worries though, i'm not here to organize. just hang about on the outskirts and observe. i tend to interact, but not too much. its good to be here though

Oh that's too much! People in hell will get ice water before INTP world domination is a threat--can you imagine all the follow-through that would be involved? Sorry, had to put that in; it gave me a quite a tickle
