The lunar eclipse thread got me thinking about this... I have seen many sundogs and double rainbows, and dew heiligenschein in my life, but not so many of the wilder atmospheric phenomena you can find at this site (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.). What have you seen?

Rainbows are not too rare.
The other things seem to happen in colder weather or I'm not too sure if I can identify them as those.

Some other things that looked interesting:
red skies.
The sunbeams breaking through the clouds after rain.

They're rare if rain is rare. Yes. I've actually seen rain before (though I forgot when the last time it rained here)...and rainbows too. I've never seen snow falling before, though I have seen it on the ground. Rare and beautiful atmospheric phenomena I've seen include the sunrise and sunset during a fire. The smoke created such a beautiful and eerie purplish sunset. Sunrise looked more like sunset because of the color of the sky.

It's beautiful to see it snowing when the sun's out.

Right I forgot that water is a major factor.

Today I saw a linear rainbow on a wet floor that followed me as I walked until I reached the edge (the beginning of stairs)

Yeah. And on the other side of things, thundersnow is interesting, too. And even though it's a big pain in the ass, it's kind of fun to watch a lot of snow accumulate quickly in a short amount of time... like a foot or two of it over the course of an afternoon.

I lived in alaska for a while. The aurora borealis is a wonderful sight to behold. And it is a true atmospheric disturbance caused by a combo os shearing and radiation I beleive.

I like it when there is the halo around the sun on really clear, blue-sky days. It has to do with ice particles in the upper atmosphere.
