No, I don't gossip. I absolutely hate hate hate hate hate it. I don't participate it unless I have to fake like I'm interested in it with a group of people so people don't give me the weird, why aren't you saying anything look?

Yes. OH MY GOD I HATE GOSSIP.

AND I HATE THOSE MAGAZINES. I DO NOT read them I REFUSE. IF I look at them (while I'm getting my hair done cause they're the only magazines in there) I MAKE FUN of them. I laugh at their shallowness. Overall I HATE THOSE MAGAZINES.

OK. got my opinion on gossip?

Loud and clear [smiley=ears.gif]

I rarely gossip.
Sometimes when something or somebody bothers me I might complain about it to others, but I'm not sure thats really gossip.

I don't really like gossip. But I DO like knowing everything that goes on, so often I'll eavesdrop on it if it's going on and it's worth listening to.

I listen to everything. I don't talk about it but I listen to it. In middle school I used to be able to tell the time to a second due to the level of noise in the cafeteria. I realized that was a bit much. So I trained myself out of it. But like I still pick up patterns. The tennis team girls had the *exact* same conversation about their favorite character from sex and the city 4 times last year.

Haha, maybe a little paranoia...:D But it's mostly because people at my work are absolutely horrible with communication and half the time I don't get the information I need unless I listen to what people are saying to other people. :-/ Sometimes I feel like I'm trapped in a game of Telephone (you know, that game where one person whispers something in another's ear and it gets passed down the line and distorted)

I'm always flabbergasted about how certain people can repeat the goddamn same story over and over again. You know, when talking in a group ( :-? ) and someone joins the group and that one guy just starts repeating the whole story verbatim in front of the whole group. I'm not sure why but that annoys me so much. I guess it just shows that they are ignorant of others and are completely ego driven or something... [smiley=knife.gif]

Funny thing is that I don't think they actually realise it.. seriously.

I know a few people that do it... and they are INTJ's !!!!!

I just think their short term memory is non existent...

You know, I used to read those women's magazines as a teenager...until I realized that almost every issue of every magazine said roughly the same thing, just with different clothing styles.

I wouldn't say they disgust me, they're just so insipid that they're not even worth reading. I do like some of the advertisements in them, though.

Same goes for gossip tv shows. When I see someone watching those, I have to ask, "Does this fulfill you somehow?"

About the magazines, their content is worthless. But like you, Firelie, I like the ads too. I guess it's a designer thing :P

Something stops me from gossiping in professional settings. I can't/don't/won't say things about someone to people who interact with them. I will sometimes vent at home. When I hear someone gossip, I distrust them because I don't see any reason they won't turn around and do the same to me. I like people who are straight up.

I dont understand how to differentiate gossiping from normal talking about weather and people.

I'll listen and throw in things every now and then about people, but wont betray confidences, or anything that makes people i like look bad.

I loathe gossip. I try not to have to listen to it or to do it myself, though I suppose I'd fit in better and have more minion-friends if I participated. I sometimes read some of the less trashy gossip/fashion magazines like People or Instyle since with big-name celebrities gossip seems an extension of their jobs as so much of their work is built upon their fame. Plus, I enjoy looking at the pictures of their clothes (I haven't the body or talent for fashion but I appreciate the results on other people).

Man I can't even do that. Even People's not that great to me. I don't keep track of celebrities nor do I care. They're fellow human beings. Oh my god, what a freaking concept! Plus they're boring to read. I really don't even care for the pictures. I like to look decent. And I generally do dress decent. I just don't go all out to follow trends or anything.

I can't stand gossip. Just recently it was my grandmother's birthday, so my mom and I took her to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch and desert. She gossiped (sp?) the ENTIRE TIME. Recently my brother told me that my grandmother confided in him about my lack of conversation with her. (RUN-ON, I KNOW) Why should I tell her anything about my life/interests/etc? She'll mis-read them, mis-quote me, and then spread gossip. Just the fact that I'm reading The Golden Compass is enough to set her running to the telephone for some hot-off-the-press gossip. (She's evangelistic, and as you all might know, The Golden Compass is strictly aetheistic. Oh the humanity!)

I got kinda off-topic there... and I subscribe to both National Geo and Scientific American. But they come in once a month for God's sake! I can't read them that fast! D:

Guess I'm old school... Sheeze... I used to think that using a hairdryer.. or heaven forbid "conditioner" was sailing close to the wind.... *;D *;D *;D

To answer that question...I don't read any of those magazines. I picked up Mens' Health while waiting in a tire store one day and I got the general impression that it was like Playboy without the nude pictures.

As far as gossip is concerned - I don't willingly participate in that. For the most part I'm not interested in other people's problems (I have enough of my own!), whether it be a "celebrity" or the guy in the next cube.

Oh, most of People's "stories" aren't interesting in and of themselves. But I find it interesting to see the spin put on different events and to see how the public reacts. Most of the rest of the magazines I read are interior design or political ones (Architectural Digest, Time, etc).
