The best complete meal I had was at a restaurant called the Coyote Cafe in Santa Fe. I had a romaine and parmesan salad that was somehow the best salad ever made. And it was bizarre. They stood the romaine up inside a crispy band like it was an Indian headdress. And the main course was pumpkin salmon, with half-cooked salmon that... had something to do with pumpkin... I forgot what the dessert course was... damn. Who would have thought I'd forget the best meal I'd eaten?

Too many to remember. The ones that stand out are usually meals I've enjoyed on my travels. France and Belgium are both foodie paradises. I also have great memories of a meal cooked by an inn owner in Tortuguero, Costa Rica with fresh fish, coconut and fried bananas.
Food in Belgium. I'll sign my lifetime allotment to you, lol. I spent 2 months in Belgium and couldn't find a decent meal in the western part of the country. That was around Kortrijk, Gent, and Brugge. Had eel in kelp sauce and lots of undercooked things. I like seafood, but even their seafood was terrible. Matter of taste, I guess. They also eat raw ground pork, which didn't appeal to me at all. Neither did horse. Their soups and microbrewed beers, though, were excellent.
Over in the western part, in Lanklaar, a found a restaurant that had good veal cutlets, though. I had to drive to Aachan, Germany for good food (schnitzel and potatoes).

my grandmother's homemade pork chop biscuits and gravy. i ate it every sunday for 17 years... i've mastered the sausage version, but i'll never figure out how she managed to make pork chop gravy taste the way she did. mmmmm.........
that, or corn bread. i ate a lot of cornbread growing up. non-sweet. the ultimate comfort food. (its also really good when you mix up a piece of cornbread in chocolate milk).
Cornbread? A true southerner from Michigan?
For those in the deep south, surely you've heard of boudain (pronounced boo-dane)? Another favorite. It is a cajin spicey sausage. I grilled some a couple of days ago. Boudain is sort of a spiced up pork, pork liver, and rice sausage, normally. There is also a crawfish boudain that is almost worth fighting for. Andoullie (spelling?, pronounced an-dou-ee) sausage is another good spicey cajin sausage that you can get here in Georgia...sometimes.

i'm not even remotely "southern" - i'm from southern Ohio, but my family have all traditionally been from the foothills of Kentucky and Tennessee. this kind of "southern" food is completely different than that of the deep south or louisiana. its more mild. there's nothing like a bowl of pinto bean soup and a piece of hot buttered cornbread to warm you up when its cold outside.
I agree completely with you, as long as there's no sugar in that cornbread. Sugar in cornbread is satanic.
Being sort of a survivalist, a had to buy a bag of dried pinto beans a couple of weeks back - just to make sure I knew how to prepare them. I soaked them in water for a day then cooked them for a couple of hours. Talk about a difference from the canned varieties. Good stuff!

Barely cooked bone-in ribeye is my favorite, but this is kick ass cornbread.
Brewmaster's cornbread:
1 package chorizo, fry in cast iron skillet that will also be used to bake the bread, remove once browned but leave the grease.
2 cu cornmeal
1 cu flour
1 tbsp sugar (sorry, I like it)
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp salt
4 eggs
2 cu evap milk
handful of chives, or shallots
1 pkg corn (I use my own that I freeze, but one can of Del Monte works too. It has to be Del Monte BTW, all other brands I have tried in a pinch taste like crap.)
4 chipotles (again I use my own, but the canned stuff is good too, plus you get the adobo)
Combine all, but don't mix too heavily.
40 min to 1 hour at 375 F. At the last 10 minutes turn your oven on broil and add shredded parmesan to the top.

I see no one tried Finnish cuisine. ^^
I've ate many good things. But I remember a hamburger I ate on the ferry back home from Estonia. I wasn't like ordinary burgers as the bread was made of whole grain and the beef really think and looked hand made. I did not have any regular sauce either nor ketchup/mustard. The bastard was huge and looked very rustic It came with fried potatoes, bacon and cheese. Even though I had been completely wasted and had not eaten for the whole day, I had a hard time get everything down.

A couple of my fav's for the cost are the following:
Goode Co. barbecue:
Sliced Brisket & Jalapeno Sausage with barbecue sauce and with potato salad, Jambalaya, and Jalapeno bread. This runs about $10+
Miyakos Japanese (just ate there yesterday)
Lunch menu:
Teriyaki chicken comes with Miso soup, salad, ginger, wasabi, fried rice, 2 california rolls, tempura veggies, and an appetizer plate with 4 different tasty things on it. This is only about $8.50 at lunchtime, and is one of the best lunch values in Houston, imo.

When I was a kid, I used to eat eggs. With little chicks inside. Then I got older and realized what they were, and I've never had one since. They taste pretty good, but the idea of consuming a chicken embyro is disturbing. And look, this is what they look like. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. I used to eat chicken feet, too. Well, that's not really gross to me still. :P
Other weird things include dirt (I thought it was chocolate powder... needless to say, the earth isn't made of chocolate) and vanilla ice cream with pickles (tastes like chocolate).
Nothing beats simple, homemade chicken soup, though. It's pretty normal. ;)
Edit: One more thing... I eat cubes of pork's blood in a certain soup. It's not my favorite thing in the world, but I don't mind it.

I'm of the mindset that nearly everything is edible, so I will try anything, but the most common bizzare thing I eat is Ustilago maydis (corn smut).
I am a freak over the stuff and am a mean bastard because I will go out into sweet corn fields with a knife and slice the ears to make them more susceptible, come back a week later and its dinner time.

The perfect meal for me is all homemade. A dark greens salad with red cabbage, onions, carrots, and a lemon shallot vinaigrette. Garlic red-skinned potatoes, to the point where you could almost call them mashed (skin falling off, potatoes melting in your mouth). A garlic wine sauce for my favorite pasta, campanelle or orecchettie. Oh and bruschetta. I love bruschetta. Load on the carbs.

i don't think i could actually pick one favorite meal. too many cuisines, too many dishes, too much deliciousness.
I love to cook and am a total food/ingredient snob but I have favorites.
Marinated and grilled meats and veggies.
Casseroles and all kinds of homey comfort foods like stew, soup, baked mac and cheese.
Fresh baked breads, rolls and desserty things. I love to bake bread, no bread machine. That's not real bread.
Light, fresh salads with homegrown ingredients. The joy of walking out my back door to grab a tomato, greens, cukes.. Very liberating.
Funny since my son requested it for dinner tonight. Bacon gravy and biscuits. All that carby, fatty goodness. Scrambled eggs. Maybe some fruit.

Hot sandwich:
Cut a sub roll in half (you can also use French or Italian bread rolls). Layer on muenster cheese, pastrami, turkey and roast beef (I prefer Cajun roast beef). Drizzle on mustard (regular or spicy). Add banana peppers and/or black olives if you like. Roll the whole thing up in aluminum foil. Leave the ends of the foil open so the bread doesn't become soggy from the meat juices. Bake at 350 for 20 to 30 mins.
You can even put them together in the morning or night before and refrigerate them. Then all you have to do is pop them in the oven when you get hungry. I haven't tried freezing them but that may work as well if you wanted to make them up for another day.

Chicken with cheese enchiladas. Only homemade will do easy but decadent. Get a whole roasted chicken throw away everything except the meat shred that into a sauce pan add 3 of those 6oz packs of cream cheese, and two envelopes of taco seasoning, cream together. This will be thick. In a large bowl empty one 15oz can of enchilada sauce I prefer green, add same amount of heavy cream not half and half or anything light. Heat up 24 white corn tortillas, set aside. Grade 1lb cheddar, 1lb jack, 1lb colby and mix together. Get your cookie sheet and assemble. Take one heated corn tortilla dip it in sauce mix, fill with chicken mix add a good pinch of cheese roll up seam down onto cookie sheet. Top full cookie sheet with reaming sauce then cover with remaining cheese pop into preheated 375 degree oven for about 15 minutes till all cheese is melted. Then I like to set oven to broil and crisp the edges of the enchiladas serve hot also a great leftover cold. Quick easy tasty.

4. American - last one in my list... I rarely eat red meat, but when I do it has to be well done.. not much into BBQ.

Ohh, my favorite soup. Well, yes, it is a very common soup for Greeks. It is called avgolemono but in some areas like mine we can also call it avgokofti. Avgolemono means egg and lemon while avgokofti means whipped egg. You will find it easily in google by the name avgolemono soup.
My own 5-min creation (if the stuff is in the kitchen):
Cucumber and smoked salmon wrappied in sushi seaweed
(has to be eaten fresh though for the seaweed to be crispy)
Satisfying for me and rather low in calorie!

All in all it is essential that the food has lot's of flavor and NO SWEETS, I hate sweets within my food. Sweet for desert is best, not within my food.
What about Thai food?

1. At Mercado Juarez restaurant (only in Texas) I get the dinner portions of chicken fajitas, preceded by a truckload of their superly fantabulous salsa that comes heated to about 140 degrees and chips. You MUST eat the salsa with the entree. I'm talkin at least 6-8 empty salsa bowls on the table when all is said and done.
2. Make sure you go to Mama's Pizza restaurant (only in Texas) on a buffet day and just chow down. No fewer than 12 (huge) slices, preferably 15.
3. Chili and cheese and rotel and guacamole and sour cream dip, with tortilla chips. Some time I'm gonna try it with sharp cheddar instead of Velveeta, but don't try that without getting some instructions on proper blending techniques.
