Hey agents of INTJ corp. In the sleeping-issues-thread someone mentioned self-hypnosis as a means of calming down and making the INTJ-mind shut up for a while so that you can actually go to sleep sometime. Anyone know anything about self hypnosis? Or do you know any website, download or whatever with information? Cause some night, I really, really want to go into a trance.

I tried some stuff a few months ago, it didn't work. I blamed my mind and gave up. :(

I think I kind of developed doing that on my own, although, I thought it was maybe similar to meditation...I dunno, I've never really understood what meditation or hypnosis really is anyway.

Anyway, when my mind is running a mile a minute and I can't sleep I will slow down my breathing and count or say the alphabet really slowly in my mind. I'm usually asleep before getting through the alphabet twice.

I don't have a particular website or source, sry. Learned self-hypnosis years ago to help with sleep. It took several months before I could consistently disregard distracting thoughts and stay focused on the systematic relaxation process. Once learned, however, it stayed with me. Sleeping became so simple that it no longer requires conscious effort to be asleep within a couple of minutes of closing my eyes. IMO, well worth the effort to master.

For INTJ sleep inducement, I would suggest one or all of the following... Herbal Tea, Hot soaks (bath, spa or shower), Sex, Overeating, Alcohol, Infomercials.

I may have some kind of intolerance to too much carbs or lactose as it seems any large meal of this type makes me sleepy, day or night...Whereas leafy green vegetables and meat, give me more energy.

On the other hand spending too much time reading this forum, tends to make me more awake. But its better than sleep anyway, so all good.
