I wanted to know how many other intjs have a tendency to pick out patterns in their lives or affiliate themselves with a particular number?

As for me, I consider 7 my 'lucky' number I guess because I see it reoccurring in my life. Would you like the list?

-7 letters in my name
-7 lbs even when born
- born 7-7-89 at 7:32am
-7 different nationalities
-graduated high school '07
- turned 18 on 7-7-07
-my college is made up of 2 names, each 7 letters each. my residence hall is 7 letters, room 322 (3+2+2....7)
theres more, but i cant think of them off the top of my head

I wont even get into the 71 hemi cuda named shannon (my name btw) in the movie "gone in 60 seconds" and how the song barracuda by heart was released in 1977...oops just did.

And then there is that money clip that my grandpa had, that I got when he died. He won a horse race 7-7-77, it being the 7th race and all also interesting. and there are 7 sevens on the clip itself.

Am I just crazy or do you guys do this too?

I don't ascribe signigicance to certain numbers or patterns of numbers, but I do look for patterns and search for what meaning my life might hold as revealed in such. For example, I find that the people in my life have been placed there for a reason. Every person I have gotten really closed to, I have learned something from. If I look at the patterns of what I have learned from certain people at the times I have met them, I would not have been receptive to learning these things from them without having first met the other people I have met in my life. It's like my life is one big lesson. That's what I think life is - something to learn from. Like God is always trying to teach us lessons by manipulating circumstances or setting things up a certain way ahead of time.

I do play with numbers that I see around me.

An example would be
Taking 2 sets of car plate numbers and adding, multiplying or whatever... trying to get the same answer in the end.

9084 ~ 90 - 84 = 6
4573 ~ (4+5-7) x 2 = 6
(I just typed these 4 digits numbers randomly)

I used to affix luck to a certain number as well but I don't do it anymore. It's just coincidence. It's more of our ability to be able to see and manipulate things(or numbers) the way that we want.

The thing that we call luck, in my opinion, is the natural tendency in human to look for something intangible. The need to accept there's something so much bigger than us. Because, deep inside, we know that we are just mere mortals. It's something that the Creator instilled in us so that we will search for the Truth.

I strive for better and better pattern recognition in my life, particularly when it comes to behaviour. And this requires ever broader perspectives from which to recognise those patterns because I find as I identify something as belonging to a pattern, the next challenge becomes identifying it in ever subtler or more complex variations. The goal of course is not to be taken unawares by unpleasant and repetitive circumstances and relationships I could otherwise avoid if I recognised them in time.

But the patterns that take my imagination are the patterns in nature. I adore how life expresses itself in so many beautiful patterns.

I'm attached to number 19, because it's a prime, I'm born on the 19th, my locker number was always 19 throughout junior high and high school, and my locker combo always had a 19 in it.

As for numbers, I always have a habit of adding the digits up and checking if it's divisible by three. When I'm driving it's really distracting, because I always want to do it with those number license plates :P

I'm very fond of the number 4. I like evenness and balance. I actually balance out odd numbers, too.

I think of them visually... even numbers like 4 have an equal amount on each side, odd numbers have an equal amount on each side, too, but they have a fulcrum in the middle... It's hard to explain with text.

Numbers like 6174 are fun to play with and I love pattern games like:

I like cold winter nights
I do not like hot summer days
I like sleeping in
I do not like staying up late
I like white dogs
I do not like black cats
I like thinking in code
I do not like people not paying attention
I like jumping to conclusions
I do not like mathematical formalities
I like proving solutions
I do not like the English grammar rules

Can anyone tell me anything else I do not like and what I do like?

You like desserts.
You do not like apple pie.

lol- did I find the right pattern? :)

I am strangely attracted to the number six, with four coming in a close second. It just seems to fit me. My mind attaches colors, numbers, textures, and emotional reactions to everything. It's really quite strange- I think of myself as a sort of warm forest green, canvas-like texture, six, and an emotional feeling that is impossible to describe.

Yes you did :). Well spotted

I like people who choose correctly
I do not like people who are unable to see patterns

I do things like Dayguard explains, but I wouldn't say I have a number that I relate to.

Although I like things in threes, I suppose. Like decision-makers in groups of three. Always the ability for a 2-to-1 vote. Three just seems like a nice cluster for group brainwork, I suppose.

i like either homogenous numeric sequences or sequential numbers, numeric symmetry or just patterns, period.

ie 12:34, 11:11, 12:12
3:36 3+3=6.....etc....

I'm just using times as my example...but i look for numeric patterns otherwise.

Symmetry. When I see signs or numbers I try to break them into groups that are symmetric, I don't care what numbers, but if they're even or prime I like them even more.

So if I saw the phrase: Donny's Mufflers

I would try breaking it into groups of two letters: Do nn ys mu ff le rs
I would like that, because it breaks into sets of 2-letters, then I would count the sets and try to find a center point, if it falls in the middle of a group I like it less, but I still like it because it's still symmetrical.

I look for such patterns -EVERYWHERE- when I'm not seriously thinking...and if I can't find them with just letters, I'll selectively add symbols with an odd set of rules I have developed over the years. When I get the groups to what I like, where they all fit nicely into a group, I feel good for some really weird reason that I can't explain.

As for strictly numbers, I like perfect numbers, prime numbers, and numbers that are co-prime. I don't know why :P

ie: 6 and 35 are co-prime, they have no common factors except 1 or -1, 3 is prime, and 6 is the first perfect number (1, 2, and 3 are its factors, 3 + 2 + 1 = 6).

11 is my number.

My birthday is 11/11.

Significant life events have happened on the 11ths of the months (boyfriends, surgeries, etc.)

11:11am and pm.

I always try to get pump 11 at Sheetz and I get ticked when it's taken; especially when they leave right as I turn off my car at the pump beside them.

The list goes on.

The number 9 and its pattern are very interest to me.

9+9=18
1+8=9
etc.

this is funny. Mine is 28 (my birthday). For as long as i have known i have referred to things like... "Its the 27th time!" to signify something being less than perfect (28). LOL. So when someone compains "I've called you, like 100 times today and you still havent answered!" I would say "I've called you 27 times today..."

Just totally random. I'm really NOT that conceited...i swear :)

My favourite number is 2, because it's a small number, and pairs of things show up everywhere. It's a little different, but not too random. Yesterday, I discovered that 2 was my INFJ friend's favourite too, and we wtfbbqrofld.

Born on the 17th, and 17 has been my number since I can remember. No repeated occurrences or anything, it just seems to fit me.

I'm not one for constantly occurring patterns, but I'm sure I make up for that in other neuroses :P

I agree, if I picked a [favorite] number randomly, it would be even like 2 or 4. Visually, however, I like the asymmetry of odd quantities.

Here's something to frighten you bunch: collectively, my birthday consists of [3] 6's. *dun dun dun* But that's nothing like the babies born on June 6th last year, though lol

3

I love the number three. I like the way it sounds, as well as the actual number. It just seems awesome...3. It feels like a good number. (I know that this is vague, but if I can't logic it out then describing it I will almost always be vague because I can't really explain things well without using logic, no matter how well I internally understand them).

i love 01. not just one but there has to be a zero before one.

What if there's more than one zero?

00 is my number. I don't know why. I like it. I use it as my racing number. Some say it isn't a number.

14 was always my number in baseball.

...and I will turn the microwave off with 3 or 4 seconds left on the clock almost everytime I cook something. (I hate the 3 beeps)

Very interested in 0 before 1 reasoning. I just thought (maybe I like zero so much I just double it for effect).

This might not really be what you meant but I LOVE plaid for a pattern, and argile.

Also, I can remember any number that has two repeated numbers, like 402-0557. I can remember the whole number because of the "55" for some reason. I am not good w/ remembering numbers in general though.

yea i always see patterns in my id numbers and social security number to make it easier to remember. I also love plaid and argyle! not together though.
