View Full Version : When you sleep...

I just wondered, as we are supposedly great day dreamers.

Does anyone else, when they day dream or doze dream, visualise themselves as extroverted socialites?

You know the type, where everyone knows them and loves them and flocks around them, completely opposite to what we actually are.

I just wondered (as I would do) because this is how I see myself in my own dream states.

Yes, great day dreamers... I got named the 'day sleeper' in elementary.

Often I pop out of my mind and visualize myself in the greatest possible successes whether they may be.

When I day dream, I acheive everything from saving the airplane by overpowering the terrorists on 9/11 to coming in first at a huge bicycle race with thousands of people watching, clapping, and roaring my name.

It's dreadfully embarrassing to admit this.

I also memorize situations and then pretend in my head that I'm on the witness stand and prove that I have amazing recall and proceed to list off everything that I have just memorized from a particular moment in my day.

I think Jung theorized that when we dream, we picture our anima. I'm sure daydreaming works differently, because it's at least partially conscious, but dreaming you're E S F or P is probably your mind's way of trying on a new suit, so to speak. It's nice to consider other possibilities, after all.

I get lost in thought often.

Lol I always day dream about me doing something amazing. I have day dreamed myself overpowering the terrorist also in 9/11 and being praised for it. I sometimes imagine that there is a school shooting at my old high school, and by my cunning I save the day. I also often imagine that I write a great novel that everyone loves, then end up on Oprah talking about it.

The list is endless, I think this may have to do with our introverted intuition.

On the few occasions that I do, I return to reality utterly and totally exhausted.

Whoa... I've imagined how I'd react in a hijacking too.

So many scenarios played out in the mind...

this would make sense...I daydream a lot about telling people personal things, or my feelings about a certain thing, when in reality I keep that all to myself. it's my way of sorting out my feelings without actually "letting them out", because it allows me to apply logic to them without ever talking to a real person about it. so for instance i'll tell someone (real or imaginary) how i'm feeling and why, and i'll try to explain it over and over until it's concise and consistent.

and they say it's not possible to be emotionally stable when you bottle up all your feelings...

Is there any INTJ that doesnt see themselves as a hero and a winner. Being INTJ is about how you process information. It doesnt mean you are smart or clever. There must be lots of INTJs that are sub normal. They will get knocked down everyday. Is it part of the fantasy that you must ignore the fact that you are loser in some office cubicle and not the millionaire chief exec of fantasyland.

Speak for yourself, INTJs are one of the most successful types.

I try to be humble. It usually works. After all, I am the humblest person who ever lived. ...Dang it. ;)

As for the original question, I do sometimes think about what it would be like to be Mr Sociable. Then I remember that I'd hate to be that guy, which is good, because I couldn't do it anyways.

Just as being INTJ doesn't make one smart or clever, it also doesn't preclude one from becoming a millionaire chief exec either. I know several INTJ millionaires and a couple who were CEO's at one point, at least until they found a charismatic leader to take the spotlight while they worked behind the curtain.

An INTJ who's smart and motivated can go far if they find a good opportunity (I'm assuming the hard-working part is a given).

I have no fantasies which involve being a major extrovert or a focus of attention by groups of people (certainly some by individuals ;D), but some do involve finding solutions to problems that would only occur in hero or high-end leadership type roles. I look at these more as simulations of possible scenarios than actual fantasy.

I used to be social, when I was younger. Im talking in between the ages of 7-12.

Then, im not sure, i just kind of got impatient with typical social teen situations.

All the backstabbing and jealousy that comes with a situation like being the centre of attention.
It jsut becomes too much
