Shiner makes a good Bock. I should have added that to my list. In fact, I think I'll edit it.

Yous two probably just haven't found a style that suits your taste. If you're using domestic beers as an example, that would explain it. The only domestics I like are Rolling Rock and Pabst. Not a big fan of Coors or Bud. And I don't even touch light beer of any kind with a 29-1/2-foot pole. Before judging all beer as gross, though, I'd recommend that you sample something at the opposite end of the flavor spectrum. Something like Chocolate Stout or Scotch Ale. But not Imperial Russian Stout. That would be too bitter to start out with.

An American that knows his beer? Whatever next. I thought you guys drank endless quantities of miller and bud. Now don't get me wrong, I like such a beer on occasion myself depending on my mood, but not all the time. European beer sucks, endless slightly variant lagers, I miss some of the rarer British beers, ales so thick you drink them with a spoon.

A Republican who likes WALL-E?! ;)

Most of us do, but there are a lot of craft enthusiasts and connesoirs also. The Midwest alone has a lot of microbreweries that produce various styles enjoyed by people from all over the world!

Okocim is my favorite. A Polish pilsner. Best pilsner I've ever tasted. Many pilsner fans prefer Pilsner Urquell (Czech Republic), but there are a lot of Okocim fans also (other than my funky self). There's also Zywiec, another Polish pilsner.

I miss some of the rarer British beers, ales so thick you drink them with a spoon.
That sounds like absolute bliss! :cheesy:

Light beer is a sin against nature and all that is holy.
I've tried Scotch Ale, as well as Chocolate Stout.
Still don't like beer.

For someone who doesn't like beer generally, there are a few pale ales (here at least) that are quite light with a fruity/flowery aftertaste.

If thats still too much you could always try a radler or some other citrus infused brew.

Personally I'm not much of a fan of most of the mass produced beers. Microbreweries are where its at!

fruity/flowery aftertaste.
Oh! Oh! Oh! Sam Adams Cherry Wheat! It's excellent! Also, any sort of blackberry ale.

citrus infused brew.
Leinenkugel Summer Shandy. Not a big fan of it, myself. For those unsure, shandy (radler is the German term) is a style of beer (ale or lager) mixed with lemonaide.

Rochefort #10 Abt/Quad is the best I've ever had. I like all the Trappist ales but this one is the best.

My favorite (non-Trappist) brewers are Dog Fish Head (Raison d' Etre is to die for, as is Midas Touch, and their 60 and 90 minute IPA's), Three Floyds, Stone (their Imperial Russian Stout is awesome), Bells (love their Kalamazoo Stout and their Hopslam, among many others), Allagash, Ommegang, and Great Lakes, to name just a few.

You may include me among those who find American mass-produced beer offensive.

I'm only 22 so I haven't been in the beer-drinking business for very long, plus it's hard for me to remember all the different kinds I've had and which ones were my favorite, but I have identified a few. I really enjoy New Belgium beers (though I still have not tried Fat Tire) and I have also found most IPAs to be to my liking. IPAs are a bit simple in flavor, but they do a fine job of getting me drunk.

I have a very love/hate relationship with Guinness.

There are a few I actually like, namely Rolling Rock and Pabst.

New Belgium beers
Haven't heard of that brewery, but it gets me thinking about Belgian style ales. There's the Canadian Blue Moon Belgian White which most of my co-workers (most blue collar types are beer drinkers, of course) don't like. I happen to like ales of the Belgian persuasion. The notes of orange and coriander are nice and the hop is crisp and not bitter. There's Sam Adams Imperial Series Belgian White Ale and also Delirium Nocturnum (which is a Belgian rendition of Heffeweizen, a wheat ale with unfiltered yeast).

Fat Tire
A co-worker recommended that to me recently.

IPAs are a bit simple in flavor, but they do a fine job of getting me drunk.
Don't drink to get drunk, you! :p Drink to get mellow, sure, but not drunk. But be sure to savor the complexity. Roll it around on your pallet a bit. As for IPAs, I'm not too keen on that style. The Indiana brewery Upland makes an IPA called "Indiana Pale Ale." Kind of a play on words. :cheesy:

Guinness
If you like smokey stouts or porters (chances are, if you like one, you'll also like the other), try Sam Adams Cream Stout, Mad Anthony Old Fort Porter, Young's Oatmeal Stout, Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout, and McEwan's Scotch Ale (for the delicious roasty smokiness).

BTW, I forgot to mention -- last Saturday night, with the wife and kids out of town, I, of my own free will, actually held a (shudder) social gathering for about 6 co-worker/friends. The first and only party I've ever held. It was a beer tasting. Best of the night was Sixth Glass Quadrupel, by Boulevard Brewing Co. Wonderful stuff.

Generally speaking I hate American mass-produced beers, but of all of them, the one I like is Killian's Irish Red.

I iz a fan o' da reds!

There's a great micro-brew down in Columbus, GA that does a delicious red, and I had several amazing rouges when I was in Montreal.

Now, Iggy mentioned ciders...mmm...ciders....

Give me some Strongbow or K (both from the UK). I also like Woodchuck, but only when I'm in the mood for something sweet - Granny Smith it is! And if you like really sweet, try Ace Pear Cider.

For those in Virginia, I know the family that owns Albermarle Ciderworks (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.). Now this is some gooooooood stuff.

The Sixth Glass Quadrupel is great stuff. Their Double-Wide IPA is pretty good too.

Fraoch heather ale is good. I'm also a big fan of Negra Modelo. I have a terrible memory and am relatively new to beer so I can rarely remember what I've had and enjoyed, but these few come to mind.

My longest running favorite is Boddingtons.

I go to this (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) every year and have a great time sampling new brews. Last year my top pick was MoonShot by the New Century Brewing Company. Despite the fact that it's caffinated, I really liked it.

I have. Good, but not great. The best doppelbock I've had is Troegs Troegenator Doppelbock, with Ayinger Celebratror coming in a very close second. Surprisingly, another of my favorite db's is an Italian beer, Moretti LaRossa (although some classify this as a Dunkler Bock or some similar type).
