Wow, it looks like I'm the most borderline person here *:(
EDIT: In fact, I've had the results come out INFJ or INTP before too... But INTJ is definately the more consistant. Time to try out another test.

If it's of any comfort, you should be aware that it's usual for the numbers to fluctuate even over the course of the day. The test takes your temperament at that moment of the day of that day. In reality, we should all take the test multiple times to get a good average.fixed broken quote tags

So what exactly do these percentages mean, anyway?
It's the strength of that trait in you.
Introverted 67 - Means that you are moderate to strong in this area
Intuitive 62 - This is slightly weaker then your I
Thinking 75 - A strong percentage here.
Judging 44 - Weaker then the others, which means that you are more likely to exhibit some P traits.

My I and iN are conistent. My T is always between 69-85 and my J is never higher than 22. I guess the only thing keeping me from being INTP is my cognitive process?

You're just borderline on the J and P, drc. Nothing wrong with that. I know someone who is borderline on ALL counts. And she's probably the coolest 40ish person I know. She carries a loaded squirt gun in her purse.

Well the average person wouldn't do things unless there's a reason. Of course the ones that do things for no reason are quite interesting =/

I do have one problem with this test spitting out numbers at the end to give an indication of preference strength. It only looks at what number of questions you answered related to each preference. It doesn't really tell you how strong that preference is for each question. So it's good for indicating that you may exhibit a lot of those traits, but it still doesn't necessarily mean you exhibit that preference strongly.
So, someone who gets an 80 T score, for example, could still be much stronger or weaker in that preference than someone else with the same score. Not that it isn't good for giving someone an idea. It can just be misleading when people use them as absolutes for their preference strengths.

That's true Jezebel, a weighted test would be much better, but I've not seen one of those. Has anyone else?

My husband has really helped my "J" mellow out.
I used to be much more rigid in that area.
So my T/F is 50/50.
I've been working on trying to be more "F" for the last 20 years.
I can care about people, but I have to do it on purpose.

moderate to strongly expressed I (40-60)
moderately expressed N (30-50)
extremely expressed T (highest by far, 80-100)
moderately expressed J (my lowest, 20-40)
these numbers represent multiple instances of a few different tests.
i think i'm pretty borderline on the J/P front nowadays.

PS: optimisery1973, if we had another source providing numbers we could use confirmatory factor analysis and a multimethod-multitrait matrix to partition out the exact (well not exact, there remains residual error) variance attributable to the actual underlying trait and the variance attributable to the method of measurement...

I took this same test a few weeks ago, but couldn't precisely recall all my numbers. I do know that I got 67 for I both times. I know my N score was lowest last time as well. I know my T was higher tonight (maybe 70-ish last time?). And my J was my highest last time (maybe 75-ish?).
I'm not surprised my T went up, as I recall answering one or two of this type of question differently tonight. I *am* surprised my J went down. I think I might have accidentally clicked the wrong button on one or two of these.
I agree that strength of response could play a factor more. There are some questions that I'm borderline on, and some that I am 100% sure of.

I've brought this up a few times. It's not a strength of preference. These tests aren't telling you you're 80% T. Such a score is rediculous if you think about it. How can somebody be 100% towards any particular letter?.
The percentage is a score of the likelihood you are to be a certain type/letter based on the questions. Another way to put it would be, you answered the T questions the same way as 80% of other T's would be expected to answer them (or did answer them, depending on how they do their stats)
The score might give you an idea on what parts you might like to work on if you wish to become more balanced (which tends to happen anyway as you age/experience more), but they're not an indication of how "much" you are of any particular trait.

Based on the questions and how I answered them, I can understand my results, but I don't think the numbers themselves can be incredibly meaningful beyond a general idea.
I'm glad some below are discussing what these numbers could actually mean. I agree that without indicating how strongly or weakly you feel about a choice, it can't possibly measure your strength of preference. I even left one question about socializing blank, because I couldn't truthfully answer it without indicating that I only slightly prefer yes to no.

For some of the questions, if you consider both options (such as if you consider the search for a solution more important than the solution itself) equally important, then you can't choose yes, so you end up choosing no, and end up with a really high score that actually doesn't reflect what you really think or value.

I just took the "mypersonality" test and came up INTP 95 89 79 58. Those questions are drastically different. I feel like I'm starting to compartmentalize my intelligence. Which test are you using to get these results? An online test? An official Myers-Briggs test? I've taken more than one online test that offered percentages, but they were scored in slightly different ways. For comparison's sake, it makes sense for everyone to be sharing their results from the same test, so, which one are your percents from?
Also, I have a tendency to believe that some of the differences between INTJs might be explained by Gardner's Multiple Intelligences (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) theory.
Add: On the HumanMetrics test I got I-78 N-75 T-62 J-56

I think this is accurate for me, as i tend to understand both sides of the fence, and prefer to lean either way depending on the situation. For example, when i see my boss yelling at the other employees for something, i see some of them get skittish, or afraid of him. In that situation, i tend to lean more to the compassionate side, because i think scaring your employees isn't the best way to get them to do what you want. I also like everyone to be in a good mood, and cheering someone up in a bad situation, tends to need some F if they're a sensitive person. I also like to break things down sometimes. My N used to be higher, until i took a college english class, in which we had to explain why we thought this or that. I had a hard time with it at first because i couldn't understand why they couldn't understand. But now its just second nature, and i find it easier to connect with S's.

I really like this test. There's an 'in between' option which is very helpful for me (although I think I abused it). This is the most accurate so far on my I-E, N-S and J-P preferences.

I really like this kisa test. One of the problems I have with most online personality tests is that they usually only offer two options to a test question. At least with this test they offer an in between option.

Seems a bit here and there, definitely correct scoring a high T and I, as much as I think it'd be beneficial to lean in the other direction there since I mostly just have extroverted friends. Oh well, you work with what you have I guess.
N/S J/P seems a bit skewed on most tests I take though, but I think MyPersonality.info probably hits the nail on the head in this case.

Introverted (I) 86% Extraverted (E) 14%
iNtuitive (N) 77% Sensing (S) 23%
Thinking (T) 65% Feeling (F) 35%
Judging (J) 59% Perceiving (P) 41%
I definitely abused the "in between option." I thought I was going to get a little lower on T (not because I am much less T, but it felt like the questions leaned that way a bit).

Typically, I score in these ranges (on humanmetrics):
I: 30-40%
N: 70-90%
T: 40-50%
J: 50-60%
Like others have said, I very much enjoy having a strong N preference. However, I would probably prefer to be an ENTJ, with my E and T preferences being in the range of 10-20%. This seems like a much better balance to be able to deal with all aspects of life.

I don't keep the exact numbers of my first test, and I trust it the most, because now I know too much for it to be objective anymore.
So the results in Humanmetrics were similar to these:
E - 20
N - 80
F - 20
P - 20
It could be xNxx, as well. But I think it's mostly between ENFP and ENTP, since my historical development resembles ENP. In any case I'm not very expressed extravert, I just tend to enjoy a little more of the extraverted activities (crowds, concerts, etc), and really draw energy from them. However, I gain energy from solitude too (when in creative process, which is often). It's weird.

Very introverted, mostly intuitive and thinking, generally judging. Judging is usually under 60%, but seems to grow as I grasp the J/P distinction more and more. (I'm a very lazy J who sometimes seems more P than he is.)

I like this description for J/P
"Generally, judging people are more careful, perhaps inhibited, in their lives. Perceiving people tend to be more spontaneous, sometimes careless."
I originally typed myself INTP because there's a misconception that P's are "lazy" and Js get things done. I consider myself lazy actually because I always have my head in the clouds! (In a similar way that there is a misconception that I's are shy). But then I got thinking about my ENTP friend who is anything but lazy (in fact she's one of the least lazy people I know) and I realized that she's totally spontaneous and I am not! So I think that description above is more useful. Also I figured out switching your type from J/P makes a much bigger difference than switching any other letters because it changes the functions the most (INTJ's Ni Te Fi Se ---> INTP's Ti Ne Si Fe for instance). But that one had me fooled for a while because I think I can appear P too! (my office looks like a bomb hit it for example!) :p

The %s can be interpreted with the following range
J(100%)--------------------(0%)--------------------(100%)P
so if i'm 11% J my J : P ratio is 111 : 89 (200 is total)
or 55.5% J (111/200)
or all of my actions are forced by 55.5%J and 44.5% P
(important to understand that this does not mean that an action is caused by J 55.5% of the time. I believe both extremes are working together all the time to push out a net action, otherwise people would be extreme Js 55.5% of the time and extreme Ps 44.5% of the time, which is not the case... normaly)

I just checked that thread out and tried the humanmetrics test again. There were some interesting changes since I last took it a couple of years ago--My introversion went down from 100 to 78, since I've been getting better at being extroverted when a situation requires it. Most surprising, though, was the 100 for judging--I remember being barely more J than P last time.

with relation to the dominance of the functions, I'm a text book INTP. With the Ti, Ne, and Si being my highest functioning and me completely sucking at Se and Fe. I've learned to inflate my Te a bit though, that may be why 50% of the time my tests come back as INTJ.

For example I am
I: 89%
N: 70%
T: 79%
J: 74%
Yes, I am an EXTEREME INTJ.
So my strongest letter is I (introverted) and my weakest is N (intuition) even though 70% is not very weak.
How about everyone else? How INTJ are you? Are you right on the fence, or the epitome of INTJ like me?

I have a very weak J. Here are my MBTI Step II Form Q scores (each out of 30)
I: 30
N: 16
T: 19
J: 2
I would caution you very strongly on putting too much stock in such percentages, given the enormous margin of error such tests have. That being said, I am strongly J and N, and weakly T, though I don't know nor care about the exact numbers.

I don't remember the numbers but my strongest was T and weakest was N. I do remember my letters being pretty high though; my T was in the 90s.

I: 95%
N: 89%
T: 95%
J: 74%
My strongest ones are I and T, and my "weakest" is J, but still too high for some to handle.
