Hmm...overly selfish, perhaps, but I'm rarely uncooperative or difficult... *I also don't see how lack of extroversion equates to assertiveness.
---
withdrawn, not wild and crazy, private, loner, not relationship obsessed, not swayed by emotions, insensitive to the needs of others, unhelpful (not true, I love helping people...it makes me feel more important), interested in intellectual pursuits, avoidant, does not put the needs of others ahead of self, thinks before acting, very scientific (yet not interested in science...hmm...) ,not upset by the misfortune of strangers, avoids small talk, values solitude, private, does not get worked up about most things, fearless, unaffected by the suffering of others, calm in crisis, not easily excited, won't do much to avoid rejection, not known for generosity, not easily confused, cold, not prone to complimenting others, dislikes most people but tries to get along to minimize hostility, hard to get to know, more dominant than submissive, not easily hurt, driven by reason, influenced more by self than others, rarely worried, hard to impress, not that interested in relationships, hard to influence, not concerned about failing when trying something new, self confident, knows why they do things, not easily moved to tears, not prone to jealousy, not guided by moods

Egocentric:
egocentric, self absorbed, not loyal, not generous, only concerned about those close to them, prone to bitterness, can ignore the rights of others, narcissist, meglomaniac, competitive, controlling, needs to have the upper hand in relationships, vain, materialistic, values individuality over loyalty, not afraid of conflict, would pursue a career that was harmful to others, believes the benefits of freedom outweigh the benefits of attachment, does not value organized religion, does not like to admit making mistakes, quick tempered, not traditional, tactless, blunt, suspicious, makes enemies, wants to be famous, prefers technical careers (law, engineering, medicine), prefers instant gratification, attracted to prestige, manipulative, influenced more by self than others, decisive
I feel like a monster...and I like it! I can't relate to that description well, it's just I focus more on myself than others.

moody, not spontaneous, planner, unadventurous, withdrawn, prioritizes physical security, not big on art, not open to new experiences, not wild and crazy, avoids unnecessary interaction, bothered by disorder, not impulsive, not physically affectionate with most people, averse to change, not big on fun, socially unskilled, risk averse, feels untalented, thinks before acting, avoids crowds, loner, uncomfortable in unfamiliar situations, lower energy level, not that interested in relationships, not big on public speaking, lonely, easily frightened, slow to forgive, suspicious of others, strict with self, not a comedian, prepares for worst case scenarios, not calm, organized, avoidant, not very inquisitive, feels unattractive, avoids small talk, quick to judge others, easily annoyed, close minded, tense, private, prefers organized to unpredictable, hard to get to know, insensitive to the needs of others, not known for generosity, attached to conventional ways, pessimistic, acts with ulterior motives, not interested in science, risk averse
This is absolutely correct in some respects, mildly indicative in some, and totally wrong in others. Where is is particularly inaccurate are :- not spontaneous, withdrawn, not big on art, not big on fun, slow to forgive, not a comedian, not very inquisitive, feels unattractive, close minded, not known for generosity, acts with ulterior motives, not interested in science.
So I gave it a generous 4/5 for accuracy -- it's really only about 3.5. Shows how simplistic these things can be, and that trying to categorise everyone into 16 or 32 categories is quite ridiculous. To the extent that such tests are being used in ways that materially affect people's lives -- like employment selection -- is a real worry.

"loner, more interested in intellectual pursuits than relationships or family, not very altruistic, not very complimentary, would rather be friendless than jobless, observer, values solitude, perfectionist, detached, private, not much fun (to whom?), hidden, skeptical, does not tend to like most people, socially uncomfortable, not physically affectionate, unhappy (wonder how they got that one), does not talk about feelings, hard to impress, analytical, likes esoteric things, tends to be pessimistic, not spontaneous, prone to discontentment (again, wonder where they got that one), guarded, does not think they are weird but others do (Hmm, I think we all know we're weird, but we like it that way), responsible, can be insensitive or ambivalent to the misfortunes of others, orderly, clean, organized, familiar with darkside (whut?), tends not to value organized religion, suspicious of others, can be lonely, rarely shows anger, punctual, finisher, prepared"

Interesting...but not entirely true...4 out of 5 I'd say.
Inquisitive
more interested in intellectual pursuits than relationships or family, detaches to analyze factors from multiple perspectives, regularly uses ideas and tools to transform understanding, enjoys playing with random interconnections between ideas and patterns, would describe self as a nerd in high school, likes science fiction, introspective, good at fixing things, more comfortable around adults as a child, feels both special and defective, knows the darkside of life well, is not bothered by going long periods without speaking with people, more intellectual than sensual, can be bitter, problem solver, relys on mind more than on others, driven by curiousity, feels best when working, minimalist

withdrawn, not wild and crazy, private, loner, not relationship obsessed, not swayed by emotions, insensitive to the needs of others, unhelpful, interested in intellectual pursuits, avoidant, does not put the needs of others ahead of self, thinks before acting, very scientific (despite the fact I said I was no good at it...unless it means rational/logical) , not upset by the misfortune of strangers, avoids small talk, values solitude, private, does not get worked up about most things, fearless (hardly...social situations, surprises, rollercoasters, snakes...the list goes on), unaffected by the suffering of others, calm in crisis, not easily excited, won't do much to avoid rejection, not known for generosity, not easily confused, cold, not prone to complimenting others, dislikes most people but tries to get along to minimize hostility (this is really beginning to make me sound like a cold hearted bitch...I like people...most of the time...and I do get along with them nearly all of the time), hard to get to know, more dominant than submissive, not easily hurt, driven by reason, influenced more by self than others, rarely worried (see fearless), hard to impress, not that interested in relationships, hard to influence, not concerned about failing when trying something new (I hate making mistakes. Mistakes = weakness), self confident, knows why they do things, not easily moved to tears, not prone to jealousy, not guided by moods
That was a very strange test. Like someone said, it seemed very negative, especially towards introverted traits. There were some really weird statements on there - "I have murderous ideas" - WTF?! :stunned:
Also, surely the "I have lived in all states in the U.S." statement is going to throw off the results of those who have never lived in the US?
All in all, it was a bit of a dodgy test. Things I give low scores came out high in the results and I can't help suspect that this was written by an American extrovert (though I may be wrong. I couldn't be bothered to research this test further).

I note unassertive is common. Is assertiveness forcing your view down someones throat, or is assertiveness not being moved, even if subjected to the first definition? Being unassertive does not make you weak, standing your ground in the face of total opposition if you are correct means you are strong. I think the prejudices of the testmakers is obvious here. Just an opinion.

A lot of this is pretty accurate, although I make a point not to be manipulative (it's unethical, imo) and I don't think you have to be tough on people to get things done. I think the best way to get things done is to be a good leader so that people will want to do them :) Also, I'm not comfortable in unfamiliar situations, I am a bit concerned with the misfortunes of strangers. And I cry at movies a lot.

Most of these traits describe me very very well, but I don't think I am as unhelpful as the description claims.
withdrawn, not wild and crazy, private, loner, not relationship obsessed, not swayed by emotions, insensitive to the needs of others, unhelpful, interested in intellectual pursuits, avoidant, does not put the needs of others ahead of self, thinks before acting, very scientific, not upset by the misfortune of strangers, avoids small talk, values solitude, private, does not get worked up about most things, fearless, unaffected by the suffering of others, calm in crisis, not easily excited, won't do much to avoid rejection, not known for generosity, not easily confused, cold, not prone to complimenting others, dislikes most people but tries to get along to minimize hostility, hard to get to know, more dominant than submissive, not easily hurt, driven by reason, influenced more by self than others, rarely worried, hard to impress, not that interested in relationships, hard to influence, not concerned about failing when trying something new, self confident, knows why they do things, not easily moved to tears, not prone to jealousy, not guided by moods

I knoticed that there seems to be 4 primary points that INTJ's have consistantly with one of those factors wavering.
Extroversion is always low in score, somewhere around 30% give or take a few.
Orderliness is generally high, with a score of 60% < or greater.
Emotional Stability is generally high in score, however it is shown that this wavers in our community. Most seem to be strong but some are weak in it with a 40% > give or take.
However we all have strong Inquisitive scores. 60% < or greater. I would like to note that we probably are practical individuals, we just seek out knowledge instinctively.
Big Five Test Results:
Extroversion (30%) low which suggests you are very reclusive, quiet, unassertive, and private.
Accommodation (52%) medium which suggests you are moderately kind natured, trusting, and helpful while still maintaining your own interests.
Orderliness (64%) moderately high which suggests you are, at times, overly organized, neat, structured and restrained at the expense too often of flexibility, variety, spontaneity, and fun.
Emotional Stability (76%) high which suggests you are very relaxed, calm, secure, and optimistic.
Inquisitiveness (72%) high which suggests you are very intellectual, curious, imaginative but possibly not very practical.

Also, surely the "I have lived in all states in the U.S." statement is going to throw off the results of those who have never lived in the US?
I didn't get either of those questions which, I agree, are very suspect. Perhaps everyone answers a different set. Don't know.

I would not say that I do not care about other's feelings or that I am insensitive, but rather that I do not have a lot of natural empathy. Especially because of my position at work, I do try to appear concerned for what the person must be going through and say the appropriate things even though I do not feel it inside.

This SLOAN thing seems to make a lot of assumptions when it decides a measure, such things as introversion means unassertiveness, and for some reason under all of the defining parts it puts whether a certain type would be likely to get a tattoo or not.
Call me judgmental, but a test that puts weight on whether a certain type is more or less likely to have a tattoo needs to be put under intense scrutiny.
For the record, I ended up with RLOEI, R(76%)L(54%)O(56%)E(62%)I(70%).

Extroversion results were moderately low which suggests you are reclusive, quiet, unassertive, and private.
Orderliness results were high which suggests you are overly organized, neat, structured and restrained at the expense too often of flexibility, variety, spontaneity, and fun.
Emotional Stability results were medium which suggests you average somewhere in between being calm and resilient and being anxious and reactive.
Accommodation results were low which suggests you are overly selfish, uncooperative, and difficult at the expense too often of the well being of others.
Inquisitiveness results were very high which suggests you are extremely intellectual, curious, imaginative but possibly not very practical.

I got RCOEI with primary inquisitive, but I don't think the description is all that true of me. I am prone to jealousy, "fearless" is not a very accurate description of me either, and I am interested in having relationships with people (not just anyone, obviously, but in principle I am interested in having relationships). I do try to avoid rejection, although once I'm sick of trying to avoid rejection but being rejected anyway, I do what I've come to call "pulling a Stephen Dedalus": deciding to forget about what people think and going it alone, socially speaking. Although I do give everyone a chance first–you never know when you're going to find kindred spirits. (Or people who will be useful for networking.)
I was reading the SimilarMinds forum to try to find out what the letters actually stood for–look at the descriptions for RCOEI and SCOEI (R is introversion and S is extroversion). Mostly negative/mostly positive. Like they're saying on that forum, there's a huge extrovert bias in the interpretation of the test.
The SLOAN+ result was RxOe|I|.

I'm always RLOEI, either E-dominant (Egocentric) or I-dominant (Inquisitive).
I say I'm interested in theoretical physics even though I actually am not. I'm actually quite ignorant of theoretical physics, but I am interested in fields that are similar. I think that particular question should have been more vaguely worded.
I don't think a lack of interest in theoretical physics makes anyone less inquisitive, for they could be interested in many more things that, although may be less academic, require just as much inquisitiveness.

I agree. I said yes to that, too, even though physics isn't my field (not even close) and I've never even taken a physics class. I'm interested in things that are just as academic and require inquisitiveness, but aren't all HARDCORE MATH ZOMG.
Which leads me to wonder which was the operative word: "theoretical" or "physics"? I've usually answered assuming it was the former ("theoretical physics" tends to get asked about on MBTI's and enneagrams, too).

I think it's an N question. And to be honest, I like factual things to stimulate my N. I'm not necessarily interested in theory. I'm interested in anything that stimulates my imagination -- I watch a lot of movies but I don't really like to read fiction. I look at concrete experience not for its own sake, but as the pawn of ideas.
In SLOAN, some of the T questions are correlated with Inquisitiveness rather than Low Agreeableness. I tend to think that the Global 5 tests were created by a group of elitist NTs and so the Global 5 is considerably more biased than the MBTI.
I also hate how they talk about how N's are said to place more value in higher education. As an N, I personally resent that, because I don't believe that education should be limited to being schooled by an academic organization -- that's merely a status symbol. And sometimes I don't believe that education is important at all.

the thing that annoys me about this test, and i know its mentioned above is that it says if your introverted your a doormat, if your orderly your no fun, and are incredible anal, if you score low on emotional stability your going to think your a pessimistic, nervous freak if your low on accommodation your a complete bastard and unwilling to help any one out in any situation, and if your score low on inquisitiveness your stupid but hey your practical. it sets up each of those scores with a good end and a bad end and it really annoys me, if your going to set up a test of this sort then you shouldn't say "this is what all people should aspire to, everyone else is inferior"

i don't see that "i put myself first" is the same as "difficult at the expense of the well being of others". Like the oxygen mask on a plane - have to take care of myself first *so*that* i can take care of others!
also - the question about 10% pay rise to do theoretical work? i put strongly-disagree, coz it would take 300% increase, and even then i'd probably still say no! not sure if this was what the question was really asking!?
first bit was in response to this:

Well, I'm an RCOEI like a lot of people. Though I don't like the idea that I'm generally unhelpful, and a few similar aspects of the RCOEI description. I notice that there is a big difference between the descriptions of those with high emotional stability and those with low emotional stability. It seems that low emotional stability is associated with sadness, depression and low self-esteem. For me, this couldn't be further from the truth. Better terms would be "impatient", "quick to anger", "intense", and "wired." Being emotionally uneasy even causes me to be determined; I feel so uneasy about failure that I don't want to give up. Therefore, this description is quite poor.

So I'm neurotic !
-------
I notice that there is a big difference between the descriptions of those with high emotional stability and those with low emotional stability.
Jason
I think there can be some truth in it. It can be translated into being quick to anger or easily depressed, depending on the cases. I'm not quick to anger (though I used to as a kid), but I get melancholic very easily. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing for me though.
I would agree with your "intense" and "wired" though, because they are global enough. Their problem is that they only consider negative emotions, but positive ones can also be very intense.

not afraid of doing the wrong thing, speaks up regardless of consequences, not filled with doubt, more dominant than submissive, not afraid to draw attention to self, self confident, does not back down when threatened, decisive, feels you have to be tough on people to get things done, not easily hurt, worry free, not easily intimidated, not concerned with failure when trying something new, aggressive, fearless, controlling, domineering, ambivalent about the suffering of strangers, not easily discouraged, out for own personal gain, comfortable in unfamiliar situations, unconcerned with the misfortunes of strangers, likes giving speeches, not easily moved to tears, manipulative, unapologetic, knows where life is going, narcissistic, exacting in their work, does not second guess self, untouched by other people's feelings, the first to act, level emotions, never at a loss for words, opinionated, demanding, goes after what they want, believes in a logical answer for everything, not very religious, show off, calm in crisis
This is true for me with a few caveats. One, I do care about what happens to strangers and others. Two, I am not manipulative. I think I have those traits, but my high ethical standards don't allow me to engage in them. Also, it would be too much work. ;) I don't care enough to be manipulative and play games.
I'm also fairly religious.

I find the results of this test to be lukewarm at best. I think rolling dice would be just as accurate. At least one of the questions resulted in a completely opposite answer (regarding lateness). Some of the others such as leadership I simply cannot fathom how they were able to reach any conclusion. Reclusivness alone is not a very good indicator of leadership ability - or desire to lead.

The Big Five is currently the most accepted personality model in the scientific community. The Big Five emerged from the work of multiple independent scientists/researchers starting in the 1950s who using different techniques obtained similar results. Those results were that there are five distinct personality traits/dimensions. Here are your results on each dimension:
Extroversion results were low which suggests you are very reclusive, quiet, unassertive, and private.
Orderliness results were moderately high which suggests you are, at times, overly organized, neat, structured and restrained at the expense too often of flexibility, variety, spontaneity, and fun.
Emotional Stability results were medium which suggests you average somewhere in between being calm and resilient and being anxious and reactive.
Accommodation results were very low which suggests you are overly selfish, uncooperative, and difficult at the expense too often of the well being of others.
Inquisitiveness results were very high which suggests you are extremely intellectual, curious, imaginative but possibly not very practical.

not an accurate test for me at all. Deleted it from my User CP.. plus the test itself is quite polarizing and doesn't allow for much middle ground.. either a person is selfless or selfish, timid or confident, withdrawn or outgoing... there's no middle ground, which I have a lot of, as my enneagram results show in the other thread.

R|C|UEI here. It's fairly accurate, but I'll italicize what isn't.
Dominant trait: Calm
not easily hurt, rarely if ever loses temper, keeps emotions under control, positive, not prone to envy, rarely sick, self reliant, trusting, stable, sturdy, optimistic, fits in most places, not defensive, likes change, if they were to live life over again they would not change much, content (possibly over content), believes in choice more than fate, good at building things, good at taking advice, does not make enemies, good at fixing things, admits it when they make a mistake, gets along with others, has more desire than fear, motivated, self confident, believes the benefits of freedom outweight then benefits of attachment
RCUEI:
atheist/agnostic tendencies, unconcerned with public image, lower energy level, does not value tradition, avoidant, does not put the welfare of others above self, not punctual, unproductive, does not believe in human goodness, not easily moved to tears, seldom bothered by the suffering of strangers, insensitive to the needs of others, relaxed, quiet around strangers, tendency to believe only in self, people have trouble reading them but they don't care, late finishing work, acts without planning, withdrawn, rarely too busy, not a perfectionist, uncooperative, not prone to complimenting people, does not believe in life after death, avoids crowds, prefers unpredictable to organized, not passionate about bettering the world's condition, does not second guess self, able to control cravings, calm in crisis, ambivalent to the feelings of others, believes in the importance of art, dislikes small talk, socially uncomfortable, private, not known for generosity, acts without consulting others, hard to get to know, not easily frustrated, interested in intellectual pursuits, not open about feelings, loner, asks many questions, open to change, influenced more by self than others, bored at work
...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I just went through a fair few of the types, and realized all the RXXXX ones are given unflattering descriptions, and all the SXXXX types are given flattering ones.

That is a whole lot of negative qualities. The shocking aspect is that most of it is true.

NOTE ON THE GLOBAL 5 TYPE (which comes from similarminds, based on the same test results): When I look at the Global 5 type desriptions at introspectives.org, I think the one that comes closest to me is RCOAI, which is problematic because (1) similarminds says my Big 5 results point to RLOEI, (2) I'd say I'm clearly Limbic rather than Calm (as properly reflected by my low Emotional Stability score on the Big 5 test), and (3) introspectives.org considers RCOAI to be one of two Global 5 types that correspond to INFJ (rather than INTJ), and I'm clearly a T rather than an F (albeit a Limbic T), as properly reflected by my low Accommodation score.
Here's my breakdown on the parts of the RCOAI and RLOEI descriptions I accept and reject:
RCOAI
I accept:
not relationship obsessed, withdrawn, risk averse, not wild and crazy, toned down, thinks before acting, peaceful, does not like to be the center of attention, quiet, averse to crowds, unadventurous, punctual, non-aggressive, interested in science, not easily deterred, loner, good at saving money, private, values solitude, avoids unnecessary interaction, not spontaneous, avoids small talk, positive, not overly expressive of emotions, lower energy level, always knows why they do things, predictable, analytical, optimistic, not prone to jealousy, not prone to addiction, not preoccupied with appearance, unswayed by emotions, influenced more by self than others, true to themself in all circumstances, modest, finishes most things they start, always prepared, competent, focused, more responsible than pleasure seeking, socially unskilled, realistic, planner, not physically affectionate with most people, self confident.
I don't lean significantly toward accept or reject (in some cases because I find the meaning too ambiguous):
level emotions, patient, non-antagonistic, deeply moved by the misfortunes of others, usually happy.
I reject:
fearless, relaxed, calm in crisis, theistic tendencies.
RLOEI
I accept:
withdrawn, loner, dislikes crowds, avoidant, not big on fun, socially unskilled, not that interested in others, requires lots of time alone to recharge, socially awkward, hard to get to know, averse to change, dislikes small talk, dislikes touchy feely types, private, not prone to complimenting others, does not easily forgive, inflexible, skeptical, embarrassed easily, tense, lower energy level, attracted to things associated with sadness, interested in intellectual pursuits, does not put the welfare of others ahead of self, not known for generosity, unadventurous, doubting, hard to understand, believes in a logical answer for everything, worrying, uncooperative, agnostic/atheist tendencies, has anxiety, not physically affectionate with most people, frustrated when people don't live up to expectations.
I don't lean significantly toward accept or reject (in some cases because I find the meaning too ambiguous):
moody, driven by own personal gain, self absorbed, quick to judge others, discontent, wounded at the core, feels second place is not good enough.
I reject:
overwhelmed by unpleasant feelings frequently, depressed, feels defective, low self confidence, pessimistic, indifferent to the feelings of others, very suspicious of others, does not believe in human goodness, lonely.

I think it fits, even though I'm a little bit more messy than the test seems to suggest. I do have a low "accommodation", that is true, but it doesn't necessarily mean that I'm stubborn, just looking out for myself in place of others. You can read my blog for more information on that. I love how it says that high inquisitiveness means low practicality. I tend to disagree with such a thing, believing INTJs to be quite pragmatic, actually.

@HandleBars --
You probably know this already, but the SLOAN dimension that corresponds to MBTI N/S is N/I (Inquisitiveness; with the two poles labeled Non-curious vs. Inquisitive). MBTI N = SLOAN I. If you're an MBTI N (rather than S), you got mis-typed by the SLOAN test (although your 52% score put you almost at the middle). Looking at your "completely false" list, I'd guess you are, in fact, more of an MBTI N (therefore a SLOAN I, not a SLOAN N) -- in which case the RLOEI description may be a better match for you.
I'd also note that you tested borderline on the SLOAN Orderliness dimension, which corrresponds to the MBTI J/P dimension -- with the two SLOAN poles being labeled Organized (MBTI J) and Unstructured (MBTI P). The fact that you're borderline would tend to fit the fact that you thought the description overdid your "organizer" side.
Finally, although I kind of like the SLOAN test that you took (partly because it's not a "forced choice" format, and lets you be in the middle, or express a mild preference, for each question), I don't think too much of the resulting personality descriptions at that site. I recommend using the test as sort of a double-check/quantifier for the MBTI dimensions, but I think the personality descriptions in a typical MBTI source are better.
Most MBTI sources reflect the perspective that it isn't "better" to have one preference rather than its opposite on any of the dimensions. The SLOAN descriptions at that site, on the other hand, definitely favor Accommodating over Egocentric (their labels for MBTI F and T) and Organized over Unstructured (i.e., MBTI J over P).

Wow- thank you for your response, reckful. I see what you mean about the SLOAN favoring certain preferences. I too think that personality descriptions from MBTI are more accurate & they do not seem as... I don't know, biased as SLOAN.
