Honestly, peppermint ice cream is the best thing on earth.
Facts:
a) It's pepperminty
b) It has a cool peppermint flavour
c) Peppermint is awesome therefore peppermint ice cream is awesome
d) It's like a little huggle in each bite
(e) it also sometimes has awesome chocolatey bits in it)

I personally die for those peppermint patties (anyone remember those commercials way back when, with the ones who ate the patties and then pretended to ski on the coffee table it was so refreshing?), and peppermint-flavoured chocolate isn't bad either.

Due to an unfortuante incident as a child, I cannot abide by chocolate mint anything. Chocolate is amazing. Mint is amazing. Their powers must never be combined, as it results in evil.
If I could find just peppermint ice cream, I might like it. I love spearmint anything (sorry Hackerx, deal with it), but would agree it's probably too mild for ice cream.
I do have an ice cream machine and it is great, I must agree! Margarita sorbet was my favorite creation so far.

Peppermint ice cream is pretty good, but not my favorite. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Cherry Garcia, and Green Tea ice cream are the best.
Spearmint should stick to mouthwash and toothpaste. :P

As a child (I believe I was 3yrs old), I had a friend who *really* liked chocolate mint. So, for his birthday, his mom made chocolate mint everything. Chocolate mint chip cake, frosting, ice cream, candy...everything. I had chocolate mint chip later too....only not in that fun way. Ever since, I have not really been able to eat it. I try something like an Andes mint every few years and it's still not that great. It's been 25 years since that incident, and I'm still not over the damage.

or gum...
Spearmint tastes nasty unless it's involved with dental hygiene.
I like cookiedough, after 8, and chocolate rice crispies icecream.
melon and banana are okay depending on the maker.
I went to this icecream outlet in Japan. There were all the flavours you could ever think of (eg. curry chicken).

So, After buying said ice cream previously, I had to do one better. So I toddled off to the shops and bought myself a tub of premium ice cream, plus some wafer cones. Now I can have peppermint ice cream all the time. And it's all mine :D

My freezer is an avalanche of stuff... things fall out every time we open it. I don't think I should buy ice cream.
I usually go to the variety store and get scoops of them. It's surprisingly cheap. i just hope it's relatively clean =/

Holy crap... I had the exact same experience as a child, though it was one of my sisters who made me OD on chocolate mint... I cannot even smell it without getting a little queasy!
BTW, try peanut butter ice cream with peanut butter cups by B&J. It is, by far, the most outstanding ice cream in the entire world.

HahahAHAHHAhahaha!
I have got to stop reading new posts in threads from the bottom up. I read yours and thought it was kinda weird for you to refer to people who disagreed with your ice cream preference in such a militaristic way (no friendlies). Then I read the rest and realized you meant the place, not the people. For the record, I always like the clown sundae at Friendly's as a child.
Also, peppermint ice cream might be awesome, I've never tried it, but those you defile it with chocolate....*shudder* No, I'll just never like at, as I have previously stated.

Yeah, you know me ... I'm a big meanie who likes to force her personal taste in ice cream on the unsuspecting minds of innocents.
I *loved* the clown sundae! Okay, all this talk of ice cream shops is making me crave some Friendly's. Right. Now.
Unfortunately, it would be a 15-18 hour drive for me to get to the nearest one. :(

I always associate mint flavors with dental hygiene products. To me, mint chocolate chip ice cream always seemed like the same basic thing as freezing a tube of Colgate and putting a Hershey's Kiss on it.
I always liked Ben and Jerry's "Chunky Monkey" flavor, though. When I was a kid, I even named one of my stuffed animals after that stuff.

It reminds me too much of toothpaste...maybe that's the deception...it must be good for my teeth it takes like toothpaste with choccolate chips, maybe if the mint flavor wasn't as strong some sort of vanilla-mint swirl?

At the christmas holidays, the local ice creameries have a sweet peppermint pink smooth ice cream with cracklie chewy bits of Candy Canes in it.
It's the texture as much as anything else. Good peppermint ice cream is like a really good chocolate chip cookie: crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside.
