I don't know how there can be a constructive debate when all that happens is a return to unsupported repetitive comments.

Normally, one side makes an assertion based on some sort of evidence.

Then the other side who disagrees with some or all of the assertions makes a counter argument supported by their own evidence.

This goes back and forth ideally with mutual respect and regardless of whether or not opinions are changed, valuable information has been shared and awareness on the subject is expanded on both sides of the debate.

This can't happen when
A) One or both sides refuses to support their evidence and just toss out random unsupported claims.
B) One or both sides refuse to try and understand where the other side is comming from
C) Ignoring the whole of the other sides arguments and focusing in on one point and replying to that point over and over in an unsubstantiated manner.
D) Conducting in ad hominem attacks.

etc... but hopefully you see where I'm trying to go with this.

It's been fun but there is no real point in trying to have a conversation when I can get the same level of treatment on the subject from Fox News, or for that matter any of the other major news networks.

Cheers! I'm out

When some one throws out a statement as truthful and damning to your argument as this: "I'm not sure I see why it's wrong for people to expect others to provide health care for them." Did you really expect us to overlook it, or to not take it to its rational end?

If you don't feel this is the root of socialized medicine, explain why.
