Should Canada support one currency for the 'Americas'? What would be the implications?
Your money will deflate along with ours ;)
on a serious note, the nice thing about not having the Canadian (and other currencies) tied with ours is that it leaves me a nice investment opportunity in foreign currency. I made like 20 bucks just for fun by messing with the Euro. I read there were deeper implications of separating currencies that were for the better, but I'm drawing blanks at the moment.

Yeah, I suppose currency traders would have issue with this not to mention banks.
The Amero is an idea that seem to have some support in the whitehouse. Possibly just media spin. I would like to learn more though.

The amero is planned, along with a super highway from mexico to texas (NAFTA) I believe the bush administration doesn't care if we tank the dollar because they will just switch to ameros when it gets out of hand.
We need another currency option, something backed with real value, not a fiat currency where the government prints up money to slow the recession. Current fiscal policy is screwed, best get invested in foreign markets until this thing irons out...or buy gold coins!

What better way to hide hyperinflation than switching currencies.
+1 on getting rid of the fiat currency and linking the money supply to something, anything even wheat would be better than nothing.

Only a good idea if it's backed by gold, which it certainly wouldn't be.

that brings up a good point. I bet processors and memory will turn into currency/commodities in the next few decades, I could see them being used like currency...
