Do you care at all about eating well? I've found that it's easy for me to do so, because of the fact that I truly "eat to live" and don't "live to eat." For the most part, I don't get inordinate pleasure from eating tasty stuff, I just eat because I'm hungry. There are a few time where I truly sit and enjoy my food, but for the most part, I just need it to be palatable. I have cravings every now and then for a certain thing (like a reese's fast break...mmmm, or maybe an animal-style double-double for all you in-n-out fans). I remember I used to even eat a bunch of peanut butter, because it filled me up fast without much time required.
This, combined with the fact that it just makes good sense to eat healthy, means I generally eat "healthy" most of the time. I've especially become interested in nutrition as it relates to athletic performance, and physical recovery. I haven't always cared this much about nutrition, but in the past few years, have made it somewhat of a goal to eat healthy most of the time. Anyone else this way?

Yes, I am a health junkie and I like to read magazines about health and functional food. It's really easy for me to abstain from soft drinks, sweets and fatty food because healthy alternatives taste better than junk food.
Nevertheless, as a student, a healthy life style is difficult to manage due to a small budget but I always try to have sufficient fruits, vegs and wholemeal products at home. I go swimming 3 times a week and feel splendid.

i attempt to be healthy.
I play tennis so that helps. I try to work out in the winter. harder to do because of my immense work load i'm like yes! I have time to relax! and feel less motivated to go down to the gym. Or it's more like yes! I have more time to do work! haha
But alas, it is not always the easiest thing to do in a college.
As cafeteria food normally doesn't have that great of options.

Yeah, I do make a little bit of an effort at not eating nothing but junk food, but I do like my sugar and chocolate. I eat a mostly healthy diet besides that, and my blood pressure is quite low.

I generally try and limit my "unhealthy" food choices.
Recently, I've come to re-think my ideas about nutrition, and am considering adopting a somewhat radical approach I just learned about. It's a system devised by Ray Kurzweil (whom i've mentioned in almost every post i've made on this site for some reason!)
here's the link describing the system
Ray & Terry (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. 9f86cc1b)
It basically deals with using vitamins as your main nutrition source, and a whole bunch of other fairly radical ideas that are based on the most up-to-date science in the nutrition and bio-chemistry fields. It's interesting enough so I figured i'd give it a shot. oh yeah, they also are fairly certain you can live much longer eating this way.

Yeah, I've read some Ray Kurzweil, good stuff. I haven't heard of his nutritional system though, thanks for the link.

Read the link, I hadn't really heard much on this "mega" supplementing, only normal supplementing, so I don't have much to say to that, but the rest of the article, especially the pyramid is pretty good. The typical pyramid is horribly out of date.

I recently tried to increase the healthiness of my diet, adding a couple of pieces of fruit to my diet. However, if there's junk food within arms reach I'll just keep on taking bits of that until it runs out.

Hey bucolic, yeah! Health is a huge value of mine, especially being a public health major...as well as a serious athlete (though I usually prefer the title of artist, since I'm a dancer...) It only makes sense that how we treat our bodies and what we consume will have a tremendous effect on ourselves, and not always just physically! If there's one thing I've learned from my studies, it'd probably be that everything in our bodies is extreemely integrated. For example: psychoneuroimmunology -- its incredible!

I've been using the method for about 2 weeks now, and I can tell you my energy has gone through the roof since I cut HG-carbs almost completely out of my diet, and started taking the supplements they provide on the site. (not to mention i spend less on food and dropped about 10 pounds) The idea that the less you eat, the less your body works is one that makes a lot of sense to me, and seems based in research rather than marketing, call me converted! That being said, I am going to stay updated on the science to make adjustments as needed.

I am like 120 pounds, so I feel like I can eat whatever the hell I please. I love junk food! I don't eat much though, since most food just bore me with its taste. Because it is so boring to eat, I often forget to do so, or eat just a minimum.
