I recently began a project of why boys underachieve
I meant to ask at least 20 questions with ethical consideration and I also have to make sure they aren't too sensitive
Here are the questions I have so far
1) How old are you
14-16
16+
2) Do you find classroom techniques helpful?
Yes
No
3) What is your main role model in education
Teacher(s)
Someone in the media
Other
If other please specify
..
4) Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
5) Do you think your current grades will help you get there?
6) What are your thoughts of education?
7) Do you think you would perform better in your studies if you had more male role models in education? Do you also think that you may have preformed better in the past if you had male role models in early education?
Yes
No
8) In your opinion does the teaching style of teachers impact your learning ability?
Yes
No
9) If yes does is impact your learning for the better or worse
Better
Worse
Could they be improved in any way, and I would truly appreciate it if you could help me create other questions

It highly depends on what your theory is. If you're looking for information, it's probably fine as it is. If you're looking for answers to sustain a theory, you'll need to let us know what that theory is, so we can actually help you.

These are my aims
To find out if boys really dont care that much about education
To find out if boys decide to underachieve due to teacher and parent expectations
To find out whether or not peer pressure has anything to do with the underachievement of boys
To find out whether technology may have something to do with boys underachieving
I need at least 20 questions, Here is my questionnaire with some new questions, I need help completing it since it needs to have 20 questions at least
1) How old are you
14-16
16+
2) Do you find classroom techniques helpful?
Yes
No
3) What is your main role model in education
Teacher(s)
Someone in the media

No
8) In your opinion does the teaching style of teachers impact your learning ability?

If yes does is impact your learning for the better or worse

My corrections:
Question 7 needs to be parted into two questions with the same answer choices. An adolescent might agree with one, disagree with the other and be unable to know what to answer.
Question 8 is confusing. The teaching style of the teachers can be good or it can be bad. If it's good, it'll probably impact the learning ability of the student for the best, and viceversa. What is exactly what you're trying to find out with that specific question?
In question 9, add "or your lack thereof" next to technology. It'll allow the teenagers to know what is exactly what you're asking. You should add "Lack of educational material" or "Lack of educational resources" as well, since I know for a fact that it's one of the major reasons of learning difficulties these days.
Question 10 is useless as it is. A normal teenager has over 15 friends, and not two of them will fare alike in their education. You'll need to phrase that question in a completely different way. Perhaps you could add something like "Think of a male friend who does really well at school. Why do you think it is like that?", "Think of a male friend who does really bad at school. Why do you think it is like that?", "Think of a male friend who does just fine at school. Why do you think it is like that?", "Think of a male friend who does not so good at school. Why do you think it is like that?". Those questions can be easily altered, allowing you to reach 20 Qs very quickly.
Let me know if you need more help.

I read here (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) that these days teaching styles tend to benefit girls more then they do boys, so I intend to find out if this somehow plays a factor in the underachievement of boys

Okay, it's much better now. Some more corrections:
College, not collage. :P
Question 11 could be phrased as "In your opinion does the teaching style of teachers has a negative impact your learning ability?", and you would reach the same result with a much simpler question.
I have no idea what you mean by "ability in education". Perhaps it's a psychological term I'm unfamiliar with. If that's the case, you'll need to put it in layman's terms. Also, the options on the second part of that question are too narrow. You'd do well adding more.
Suggestions for the last three questions:
"Do you think girls do better at school than boys?" Yes/No
"If yes, why?"
"Do you think the teaching styles of the teachers favour girls over boys? Why?" Yes/No
"Is it common for you or for your friends to feel you/they are underachieving?" Yes/No
"If yes, why do you think is that?"

Perfect! I have no more ideas at the moment, but two of my aunts have been high-school teachers, principals and inspectors (school supervisors) for years, and they will probably have more insight on this than I do. I'll let you know what they think.

Thanks, btw when we finish perfecting the questionnaire, do you know how I could get about 10-15 responses?

So I just called them. First off, they warned me (and with good reason, I can't believe I hadn't thought of this myself) that if this is an assignment for college or a thesis, I shouldn't be helping you. You are supposed to do this by yourself.
Secondly, they've pointed out to me that (from their experience, and bear in mind I'm from Argentina), girls tend to achieve more than boys because they're more dedicated to their assignments, they tend to be more thorough and they presentation tends to be better. They are also known for memorising information rather than comprehending it, and the current educational system favours those that can remember more data, not those that understand it better.
I've given them your 4 points and they will call me back.
You're welcome. :)

Thanks, no worries it isn't college work, its just research I promised to conduct

They called back. They suggested me these four questions that basically sum up the goals you're trying to achieve:
1) How many hours a day do you spend engaging with technological devices for recreation?
2) How many hours a day do you spend studying?
3) What factors do you think affect the achievement of girls? Why?
4) What type of assignments allow you to achieve more? Groupal or individual? Why?
Well, I hope this was useful to you. And if you don't mind me asking, where will the results of this research lead to? What use will be extracted from this?

Thanks, well my friend told me that boys underachieve on purpose, and after some arguing he told me to research it and prove him wrong, then I needed help with a questionnaire, and I came here.
I want to prove boys do not purposely underachieve

I want to prove boys do not purposely underachieve
I wish you the best of luck. But to tell you the truth, from my experience, it's not that they do it on purpose, it's just that they stop caring about it. When they enter the stage in their lives where girls and sex become more important than boring books and assignments, and financial security for the immediate future seems to be a more pressing issue than studies, then you'll understand how most boys just stop caring about their school achievements.
This questionaire is awful. You stated 4 things you wish to determine.
To find out if boys really dont care that much about education
To find out if boys decide to underachieve due to teacher and parent expectations
To find out whether or not peer pressure has anything to do with the underachievement of boys
To find out whether technology may have something to do with boys underachieving
So you need a set of questions to determine these. The questions you must ask have to have definite true anwers one way and false answers the other or you wont have answered the questions.
4) Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Is to determine which of the 4 points you made above?
6) What are your thoughts of education?
Is going to give you an essay form each that doesnt tell you anything.
You want several questions on each point so you get a good result, for example
To find out if boys really dont care that much about education
This asks abouts boys attitudes to education. So
1) Is eduction important more important to boys than girls
-> i dont value education because i am a boy
2) Do you think value education more or less than other people
-> I dont value education because i am me
3) Is education relevant to your current problems
-> I do value education but i got other things to think about right now
4) Is education important for success in the future
-> I can get rich without an education, its not needed.
etc etc. You are trying to find out if they do or dont care and what the reason for the response are.
