View Full Version : What should my avatar be?

I've been here for about seven weeks and I've posted over 700 contributions. I don't yet have an avatar, mainly because I have no idea what to use to represent myself. It would be interesting to hear from those members who have read what I have written what image they think I should use as an avatar (isn't that a wonderful word - avatar? It's sort of other-worldly). I would like suggestions for a theme song too, while you're at it.
All contributions gratefully received.

Stig of the dump? Seems apt with you living in a cave :-)

I'm running off a flash stick right now as I borked my HD setting a low-level password while drunk otherwise I'd resize it.

James Bond in a trench coat?

I have always imagined an image of an ant in a trenchcoat. I know, wildly creative given the username trenchant, but the image is always of the ant flashing the viewer. I don't know what the ant is wearing (or not wearing) under the trench because I always look away :p. All I know is the ant has a huge and mischievous grin on it's face. Immediately following all of this I wonder where an ant would get a trenchcoat and that properly fitting four sleeves would likely be very difficult. The train of thought goes all askew from there. What were we talking about again?

Yeah a full-length leather coat. Now we're talking.

When I see the name Trenchant1, I think of trench warfare.

I think that since you haven't yet decided, that you'd porbably change your avatar periodically anyway, so trying to find a close to perfect one probably won't work.
I'm guessing you want something artsy or whimsical?
Have you looked here (Jezebel hasn't moved them all into the avatar gallery yet):

Artsy? Whimsical? Which universe are you living in? Artsy my arse.
I looked at those pictures. There are lots of naked and semi-naked ladies, aren't there? I like the one of the naked girl picking at her corns. I can see me doing that. I think it would send the wrong message, though. No, I'm still looking. Thanks for all the suggestions.

This is IKB 79 by Yves Klein. This is my avatar. How can I resize it?

I always imagine a fence when I read your name. I have no idea why.

Was going to resize an image of a fire ant... But when I was trying to crop it my mind went all psycho and I felt like I had bugs crawling all over me. I'm such a nerd.

to be more serious (urgh, uck..yech...i'm struggling)....i chose my avatar off an online test i took when i first registered....the silly thing told me i was 'the librarian', and i found a pic, resized it (not a male enhancement drug used at all), and used it.

YOU will have to dig into the 'penetrating' choice-not i. for 'caustic' i found 'a phenomenon of light' as follows:

I also had trouble coming up with an avatar so I did a thread entitled "Sequoia's Missing Avatar" and invited the members to come up with some for me.
Rudy came up with the following, which was a contender for me. I ultimately selected another one plus one more for backup. I think this might fit you:

Please don't damage your mental health simply to find a nice picture for me. It's not worth it.

I quite like this too, but does it reflect my nature? I shall have to think about that.
Thanks again to everyone.

As you will see, I am now enavatared (isn't that a good word?). Thanks again for all the input. I may change it from time to time to take in some of the wonderful suggestions put forward by you all. The ant in a trench coat sounds quite appealing.
