Brought up in another thread. How many messages do you like to appear on each page in a thread? I just set the default at 20, but I'm curious what most of you prefer.

Penny-Arcade does that. 50 standard, selectable to 25. It works out pretty well with people who hating each number getting what they want in the other. It leads to some confusion with quoting posts "on the bottom of the page" so they don't get missed, though, since there's no standard bottom. But since that's not really custom here, I don't see any downsides!

Update: since most people who care enough to voice their opinion want 25 or more, I have changed it to 25 for the time being. I'm looking for a hack to give users the option of setting it in their profile, but so far haven't had any luck.
