i enjoyed writing when i was a kid. i write my thoughts often on a little notebook i keep however stopped when my mom read it... so i resorted to blogging and i keep multiple accounts for differents circles of friends and acquiantances who wish to have an update of what my life is like at the present. i also keep one for my own personal reading which is highly secured and ungooglable.
i keep journals for the following reasons:
1. as what i've said a while ago, there are friends and acquiantances who wish to be updated about my life
2. i just want to catch my thoughts then read them after a few months or years just to check how my frame of thought is developing
3. in relation to number 2, i also want to know how i am progressing emotionally
4. there are things you find hard to tell your closest friend or family member that you just resort to typing or writing
5. and last but not the least, when world war 3 comes and would be lucky enough to witness everything, my diary will be famous hahahahaha (i do hope someone would remove my boy-scouting part of my journal)

I started journaling and blogging a couple of years ago. I found, suddenly, that all those years of wishing I could figure out how to fill up blank books (with which I was so fascinated) was suddenly easy. I simply had to write that I gave myself permission to say whatever I thought or felt and that I would not judge myself or be ashamed by anything I wrote. Once I had done that and agreed not to go back and say "that was a silly thing to write," I was able to write freely and copiously. For anyone who struggles with actually starting a journal, but wants to, I highly suggest that approach.

It really is fascinating to look back on old journals and see how much you've changed (or not changed, as the case may be).
I just about died laughing when I found a journal from when I was 8, and I mentioned that the only reason I liked Spanish class was cuz they gave us candy. Ahh, good times.
I mainly just like having some outlet to spout my thoughts and tell stories about how crazy life can be.

Yeah, and all of the people you had crushes on, and all of the random observations you had...
I decided to move my old livejournal over to my new wordpress journal yesterday, so I've been reading the old entries and trashing all of the quiz posts/junk posts...man, yesterday was the most entertaining afternoon I've had in ages.

i agree. sometimes there are things i can't say to people so i jot down as if i'm actually talking to that person. i find it really hard communicating verbally.

i also moved to wordpress. i think wordpress is more organized and simple compared to lj.

Haha, yeah. I've done that too. I usually make the mistake of sending those letters to people, though. hehe
I dunno about LJ. It had its heyday, but it seems to have gone downhill in the past year or so. The only thing I like about it anymore are the communities and having the ability to read all of my friends' pages in one place...but since I haven't gone looking for that on wordpress yet, that may be available there, too.
