Does anyone here enjoy Bollywood movies?
Although I like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par, Bombay and Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, I'm not into the newer ones so much. I like older classics, such as Mughal E Azam, Shree 420, Tezaab, Devdas, Shenai, Guide, Sholay, Deewaar, etc.
Anyone else a fan?

I love the music of Bollywood, that's for sure. I've got a double disc Asha Bhosle c.d. that I love the hell out of.

Same here. Love Bollywood music. The voice of Lata Mangeshkar is addictive.
In fact, I was so excited when I recognized A R Rahman when he won the Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire.
As for movies, anything with Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Preity Zinta, or Rani Mukherjee. I like the 80s and 90s classics.

I used to watch em but not so much anymore. My personal favorite is Devdas, the soundtrack is amazingly ridiculous.

I don't like Shah Rukh as much as I enjoy Aamir Khan. SRK, in my opinion, acts pretty much the same in every movie - but he was great in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.
I love Lata and AR Rahman - their music is GORGEOUS. I was so surprised to learn that Rahman did the music for Slumdog, because it's so different from his music in Bombay, but his versatility just goes to show what a great musician he really is.
Tezaab is my favorite from the 80s :P Madhuri is such a great dancer.
Actually, Madhuri and Ash made a great pair in Devdas - and Dola Re Dola is such a catchy tune. Devdas is by far my favorite movie, but I like the version with Dilip Kumar best. The role was perfect for his style of acting, and it's such a moving story that only such a great actor could pull off. The music in it is also very beautiful - both Lata and (the young) Asha.

I absolutely agree on SRK's acting. :) However, I notice that he and other more commercialized actors/actresses are courted by the main production houses such as Yash Raj/Dharma/Rajshri, and therefore, commanded some of the best song writers and singers in the industry. They have some of the most beautiful and unique songs that I like. Hence, all the lovely songs from DDLJ, K3G, etc. I know, we're just music-crazed.
They also happen to be family friendly musicals that my kids could watch as well.
IMO, Amir Khan is one of the few true artists from Bollywood. As for Madhuri/Ash...They are beautiful dancers. Although, I caught Madhuri towards the tail end of her career, so don't know her as well. But, she is very talented from a couple of films I've seen her in. A classic act. I am not a fan of Ash's acting though.
Mind you, I haven't kept up for several years now.

I've been into Bollywood for a few months now, and I love it! I love the dancing, the colours, the dancing, the music, the dancing and... did I mention the dancing? I love Shah Rukh Khan, but not because of his acting skills, but because of all the power he has managed to get without being Bollywood royalty. Gotta admire the guy.
I'm in love with Dola Re Dola. I can watch that video over and over and over, it's addicting! And I love the music from Devdas, although I really didn't like the story - I'm a sucker for happy endings.
I like Kajol's acting. Her character in K3G was a blast, and I've enjoyed her in other movies - I saw this movie with her and Anil Kapoor a while ago, can't remember the name but her character's name was Megha.
These are the movies I've seen so far:
- Paheli - awesome dancing numbers
- Asoka - interesting, too epic for my taste, Kareena Kapoor looked decent
- Duplicate - hilarious
- Dhoom (1 & 2) - very, very entertaining, especially the second one
- Devdas - excellent, even if one of those ridiculously tragic ones
- Dil - good one, got to know Madhuri Dixit
- K3G - One of the best I've seen
- Some movie with Karisma Kapoor and Abishek Bachchan -they were married and divorced, and I think Akshay Kumar was also there - it was OK
- The abovementioned with Kajol and Anil Kapoor - decent
- Baghban - loved it!

Back in the 80's I enjoyed watching bollywood films, but I lost interest when they couldn't expand the storylines beyond the generic dancing and family issues.
Hopefully the success of slumdog will open their eyes to different perspectives of life.

I hope not. Honestly, it's not that bad: you have Hollywood, trying to look convincing, but failing as well, selling out their own version of life, sugar-coated and all. I think Bollywood movies do the same, except that they sell a less-known (for us in the west) version of life, based in their culture, which of course isn't the same as American culture.
I think it's quite fun; I live in South America, where people is a lot more family-oriented and emotive, and frankly, it is a fresh breath of air from Hollywood (west, in general) stiffness.

I have no desire to watch any movies produced in Bollywood. They seem too silly and I hate musicals - especially happy-happy-joy-joy ones.

It's always good to know what one does want. ;)
As for me, bring on the happy-happy-joy-joy musicals! Life as itself sucks too much to want to see it reprised in fiction. Plus, I'm a very musical person.

Yeah, that movie is amazing.
My personal favorite is Umrao Jaan. Aishwarya did an amazing job acting.

I haven't watched any Bollywood movies yet but I like crappy, English-dubbed Bollywood songs posted on Youtube though...like:
Benny Lava
India Thriller
Tunak Tunak Tun
Nipple Song
May He Poop?
(They're not actually the real translations and these are not really the titles except for Tunak Tunak Tun which is the title of the song itself.)
I usually listen to this when I'm in my ESFP shadow mode.
