Why is it when I try to look at certain web pages, I get a box come up entitled "Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional" which says "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional"? This is rapidly followed by another box with the same title, which says "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional' disk and click OK." If I try to click OK or Cancel, usually another box comes up saying "The path 'Microsoft Office 2000 Professional' cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package DATA1.MSI in a folder from which you can install the product Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional."

If I keep clicking on various things or refresh the screen, the site I'm trying to open will often load, but invariably the browser gets stuck and won't close.

What is this piece of software? What does it do? I mean, I can fetch my original Microsoft Office 2000 source disks over from my parents' house to hopefully fix the problem, but why should these websites need a Microsoft Office file installed?

That is odd.. do these websites have anything in common? It happens every time you load certain pages? Does this happen in all browsers or just IE (as I suspect)? I googled that error message but nothing came up about web pages, just people who have problems with their Office installations. Can you use Office just fine when you open it normally?

Font's + Missing foreign language support causes this off the top of my head.

For example, if you go to say a chinese or japanese typed page and you don't have the language packs installed.

I've seen this before. Its called "Microsoft Office Web Components"
Here's a link that explains how to turn off that auto download annoyance.
