There is now an option to easily ignore other members! ;D

To toggle this feature on and off, just click the button under their avatar.

This feature is not available for moderators and administrators. Sorry guys. ;)

That feature might come in useful.. Are you going to have a league table of the top ten ignored users? Or better still will the ignored user be able to see how many members are ignoring them? It could be useful for those of us who have the ability to piss people off ... ;D

He he.... could be a great competition.

We need to form tag teams and take positions on topics whether we agree with them of not...

Although, people that ignore others must have serious issues with their internal emotions... some of the absolute best posts are from people I would get on least with. I thought that INTJ's could detach emotions from the logic of the topic. Evidently not.

Hmm.. what about banning non INTJ's from the board?

Hmmm... Maybe god has to get a vbulletin board and take some true believers to the promised blog.. the new saviour… 8-)

Being Serious...

I think the only time we would ever need to ignore members would be when we have a spammer or a troll whom the mods don't get to first... Even then I would like to see how members handle the troll situ ..

Banning none INTJ's? A majority of people are here to learn about themselves & others. I want to be here among other INTJ's for my personal development. Having other types on the forum is assisting me in not only typing others but how to deal with them in the real world....

Agreed, but I do see the propensity for the mods/admins to becoming politically correct and it does annoy me that they have something to do with intjcentral (*********** ***********)... I pretty much see it as more of the same.

Guess, I really want to be reading full on pysch books rather than blogging... I could design some tests that could properly stratify (And identify better) the one dimensional angle that MBTI takes.... but then again I've got higher priorities...

Since I'd have to dig through the source files to get this information and tally it up myself, probably not. :P

I hope you're joking. :suspicious:

You pluralize it, but I'm the only admin on this forum so I take it this is being directed at me. The mods help keep what you see out here cleaned up but don't run the forum and have no affiliation with the xcentral forums.

My decision to allow other types to post here has nothing to do with being politically correct.

The intjcentral domain is separate from the intj forum, and serves a different purpose than the xcentral forums. If members here want to make off the wall associations about what that means based on a domain name rather than the content, it's of no concern to me. :)

Thanks, but no thanks. The place I live in already has enough sand that I could bury my head in. [smiley=drunk.gif]

Though it is flattering to think that you didn't implement this feature until 2 days after my joining this site. :)

Same here, I like to learn about other counterpart INTJ's, although I already got an female INTJ neighbor. But the yearning to learn about myself and how do you deal with INTJ's without striking a nerve. Yeah, all INTJ's has certain nerve, which I don't recommend jabbing at.

The first time, I joined here, I went on INTJ crazy because I actually found a place with the same thinking and wavelength. I went off topic so many times that I lost count, thanx Jezebel for pming me and sending my posts to the right one's.

As for you Jezbel, being the only mod. I've been a da-forums, where there is alot of mods and host mods. Kinda sux there is a split of "E's" and "I's" who kinda agree and disagree :( I hope something get resolved, for the peace of the people. Overall, thats up on the ladder, I am just a happy member who's continuing on throughtout my day.

Okay, this makes how many times you've thanked me for PMing you about going off topic on the open forum? People are going to start getting the wrong idea, thinking I'm a tyrant and this actually occurred more than one time. After splitting several of your posts that had nothing to do with the original topic or previous posts in that thread in the same day, I PM'd you asking you to pay attention to what the threads were about. That's it. It wasn't even a real warning. No need to keep thanking me and no need to discuss PMs in public. I mean really, I'm flattered that you appreciate my annoyance with forum organization so much, but geez! :o

I'm the only admin, not the only mod. More mods/admins will be added as necessary but this forum is still new.

Sorry. You are not a tyrant actually, how I put it more an excellent organizer. I do organize real stuff in the real world, but thoughts is something else. Next time pming.

I know this is fairly new, I was refering in the near future. This forum is slowly building, plus alot of new members are arriving in here.

*cough*
Is there a way of blocking certain people from seeing your (my) posts? *cough*
I'd actually think that'd be more useful considering I could choose not to read something myself...

I've never seen that feature on a forum before. I don't think it's possible to prevent reading anyone from reading your posts if they really want to. All they would have to do is log out to see everyone's posts (in the nonmember only sections, anyway).

That's true... I guess it'd only work for a members only forum.
Oh well...

hey,
if enough of the active members ignore the same person, can we ban him/her? ;D

How will I know how many active members are ignoring each person?

I thought you may possibly, with your amazing admin powers, know. (I don't know how much more you know about the forum compared to regular members)

What number would you consider 'enough' to justify a ban?

Rei

Say... 35-ish?
All the people with a certain amount of PPD.

I'm glad we have the ignore option now. I only wish it would include the avatar as well. Every now and then I come across an avatar that I would prefer not to see.

You can do that if you have Firefox/Adblock (right click, block image). Not sure if Internet Explorer has any features like that.

I think a reasonable number would be the total amount of active users divided by ten or so. So if 100 people regularly (at least once a week) visit and post, and ten of them blocked a certain person, that person would be banned.

I'm curious - lets say a member is very nice and polite toward others, but has other annoying posting mannerisms that cause a lot of people to put him/her on ignore. Do you think it would be fair to ban such a person even if they mean well?

Good point. Maybe you (or another moderator) could review the recent posts of the person thats about to be banned? If the posts are rude or offensive, they could be banned, but if they're simply annoying they could just receive a warning or something. A better way to do this might be to have a "Report" button next to each forum post (if the forum software allows it, that is). When a user is reported, an admin/moderator would review the post and decide whether or not it should be deleted. If enough people report the posts of a certain user, the user could be banned.

Yeah, my guess is (most of the time) if enough members are ignoring the person, they're breaking some rule other than being on too many ignore lists anyway. The new forum software will have the report button on each post.

Wow... I didn't think anyone would take me seriously about that.

Essentially if the person was just annoying there's no reason to ban him/her. If the person was rude, then we could always just PM Jezebel (or any other admin) about it directly =/

side note: holy crap... 1000th post...
