I have seen a few people mention rockclimbing in their profiles. Are there any other climbers around the forums here?
I'm from the flatlands of the Chicago burbs and the nearest climbing is Devil's Lake, WI. I can be found there just about every weekend during the climbing season. Mississippi Palisades is also nearby but the quality of the rock leaves something to be desired.
Other midwest crags I climb at are Red River Gorge, KY and Southern Illinois. I occasionally venture west to Red Rock Canyon, NV and have also climbed Devil's Tower, WY (no aliens found).
I started trad a few years back and am comfortably leading 5.7s and some 5.8s. On top-rope or sport I climb in the 5.10s.
