When's the chatroom coming out? It would be mighty embaressing that all of the other 'inferior types' forums would have a chatroom yet the mastermind INTJ not :|

I don't like/use chatrooms, but if there is enough interest from other members I'll look into it.

Really, shoot. If I annoy someone that means I get ban; talk about harash for an INTJ. That sux, but having a INTJ chatroom is really a good ideas. How about Weekends? I heard complaints that I can't get stuff done. Come on now, weekends are good to do it? Once, the chatroom is closed during the weekdays back to continue chatting on the forums and not on the chatrooms. Less work for you Jezbel. I am happy, no more PM warnings from you :) Now I'm playing nicely with others.

Actually, having INTJ converstation real-time on a chatroom is very engaging. It does makes you want to talk about stuff. I got an idea, how about we have the Topic of the day and try not to go off topic. This way, it helps people who hates off topics. So everyone has a fair share to talk and gabber.

I am setting up an IRC Daemon on a few servers, irc.shaigar.org it should be done before november 10th.
I'll create #intj and get a bot put up there if enough people are interested in the channel existing.

I was halfway wondering when we'd get a chatroom, too. Didn't care enough to ask about it, however.

I wouldn't mind popping in for a chat every now and then .. as long as it is restricted to members only - and then maybe only members with x amount of posts ...

Oh come on INTJ, we are great with making up ideas. Killing the mood here, all you have to say that I am in a chatroom of intellectual people. We are trying to create something positive, if today I am very postive that means honey you will be postive as well. Two postives comes out as a postive, not a negative. If I am in a bad mood, I come in this wonderful chatroom, it cheers me up. Then, back as usual. Honey, you can call it like a medicine for INTJ's and its legal too, at no charge; just your time.

Then again, we could also install Teamspeak or Ventrillo and really listen to each others robot voices :square:

How about asking this question. If a INTJ chatroom is created, what kind of topics and options do you want in the live chat? Yes, Sarcasitic jokes is kinda a give away, anything else.

Anyone else? My main concern with adding a chatroom at this time is inactivity. I think there are enough people interested right now. The only problem is whether or not the interested people will be on at the same time and willing to sit around in a chatroom waiting for others.

logan235711

It'll probably work itself out overtime--as people get used to it and what not : )

oh cool, I really don't mind having either 1 or 3 people in the room. It seems that most people are already quite active online and don't mind trying something different, like a Live Chatroom

I'm experimenting with chatrooms tonight. Trying to decide if I want to stick to IRC, but i think I should... it'll be nice to have it separate from the server when this forum is down for maintenance.

Anyone want to help me test? Respond here! Or PM me. Don't worry, you don't have to chat with me, I'm mostly just trying to set things up. I just need some people willing to see if they can connect so I can see how things are working... it's fine if you just want to idle.

logan235711
11-07-2007, 01:28 AM
it does, but it requires me to 'ok' a security certificate (cause it's an applet) and after I accepted I couldn't connect to the chatroom--just the applet screen.

Jezebel
11-07-2007, 01:39 AM
Okay, no worries, that isn't the main way to the chatroom but I wanted to see if anyone had trouble using it...

Jezebel
11-07-2007, 01:53 AM
If you're using an outside client: the server is ECNet, the channel is #intj

I'm also going to set up a client for the browser and see how that goes (that part is still in progress)

I don't know much about chatrooms so bear with me.

Click this link:http://ecnet.org/vchat/?room=intj then, the Java Applet comes up, if you got java then don't worry about it. If not, then accept it, install it; then you are in. Type: /nickanme [Your name].

Thats it.

you can try to access it from your browser here: http://ecnet.org/vchat/?room=intj

or you can use an outside client like mirc: http://www.mirc.com/

the server you need to connect to is ECNet

Stupid college... I don't think they're letting me connect to the chatroom in either form (mIRC or ECNET). I keep getting disconnection errors.

mIRC (http://www.mirc.com/index.html) is the most popular free IRC client for Windows, and is pretty full-featured. Here are a couple other good ones though:

If you're using Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/) (as you should be :)), you can try the ChatZilla (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16) extension. Opera (http://www.opera.com/) also has a built-in IRC client.
If you're using OS X, try Colloquy (http://colloquy.info/)
If you're using Linux, Konversation (http://konversation.kde.org/) is an excellent IRC client (this is the one that I'm using).
XChat (http://www.xchat.org/) is another alternative, and it works on Windows, OS X, and Linux.

Wikipedia has a good comparison of IRC clients (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_IRC_clients) if you don't like any of those.

I'm sorry... This is a really dumb question... but I can't read binary code, so I know I'm missing something here...
What on earth does 01011001 01001111! 01110011 01110101 01110000 mean? Or was this just a joke?

Ok in chat ... on my own :P Don't know how to change my nickname though (have followed earlier instructions, but it doesnt work)

Just an idea, when you switch to Vbulletin could you possible include a chatroom link on the forum menu?

Edited to add: Solved the nickname thing: it is:
/nick newnickname

Just a warning to Colloquy users: for some reason, it puts your full name in the /whois information, without a clear way to remove it. Try XChat if you're running a Mac and worried about privacy.

EDIT: Also, would it be possible to put a link to the chatroom on the main forum page?

Here is another way to access irc chat through your browser. (http://ecnet.org/intj)

This one uses cgi instead of java.

Edit: also started a chatroom FAQ (http://intjforum.com/faq.php?faq=chat#faq_chat_irc)

Here's instructions for how to automatically authenticate your nickname for Konversation (for the FAQ):

File > Server List > (select network) > (click Edit) > type the full identify command in the "Commands" text box > OK

During Fri-Sun (primetime activity) is during 8pm-12 midnight, for more INTJ's and non-INTJ entering the room. Its around 16-17+ or more. Bring in a topic of your own choice, glad to hear it, always humor, etc.
