A simple economic question, are you doing better financially this year than last? Inflation adjust yourselves.

Yes, and the ONLY reason for that is that I spent 3/4 of last year working outside my field, in retail, for minimum wage because I live in one of the most economically depressed areas of the country. Last year, about this time, I got a contract position making 5-times what I was making in retail.

However, if I compared where I am today with where I was 4 years ago I'm worse off financially...much worse off.

Very much so.

I make about 40% more this year than I did last, and my investments have all done fairly well. Inflation is a moderate problem, but most of its in fuel and housing, and I don't pay for fuel as I drive a company car.
