Jessie McCartney - Beautiful Soul
Creed - With Arms Wide Open
Britney Spears - Boys (and they wanna talk about how rap lyrics degrade woman, but they'll turn a blind eye to lyrics that degrade men)
Soulja Boy - Anything that fucker releases

That's all I can think of for now, no doubt (no pun intended) I'll have a bigger list once more thought has been put into this.

Pretty much everything that has been played on the radio in the past 20 years or so. If it doesn't have a melody, involves someone whining and/or singing through the nose, or is sung by someone who relies on melisma to the point that s/he doesn't hold a note for more than half a second, I'm out.

Funny, I only ever empathized with Avril when she was apparently getting beat up by herself.

I used to actively avoid areas where this song could be heard and walk out of shops if they started playing it. That's how much I dislike it. :irked:

I can think of whole genres of music I don't like, but others do. But, I can think of a couple that I wouldn't think I would hate, but for whatever reason the songs make me want to smash things, but everyone I know doesn't react so violently to it.

You Were Meant for Me - Jewel (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.)

Love Song - Sara Bareilles (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.)

I'm not usually bothered by this type of music style or by women's voices, but these to songs make me twitch if forced to hear them. Whether it's the fact I don't care about Jewel's pancakes in the first one or the way the chimp is banging on the piano in the second, all I hear is rage.

If I Were A Boy

If I were a boy even just for a day
I'd roll out of bed in the morning
And throw on what I wanted
And go drink beer with the guys

And chase after girls
I'd kick it with who I wanted
And I'd never get confronted for it
'Cause they stick up for me

If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I'd be a better man

I'd listen to her
'Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
'Cause he's taking you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed

If I were a boy
I would turn off my phone
Tell everyone it's broken
So they'd think that I was sleeping alone

I'd put myself first
And make the rules as I go
'Cause I know that she'd be faithful
Waiting for me to come home, to come home

If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I'd be a better man

I'd listen to her
'Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
'Cause he's taking you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed

It's a little too late for you to come back
Say it's just a mistake
Think I'd forgive you like that
If you thought I would wait for you
You thought wrong

But you're just a boy
You don't understand
And you don't understand, oh
How it feels to love a girl
Someday you wish you were a better man

You don't listen to her
You don't care how it hurts
Until you lose the one you wanted
'Cause you're taking her for granted
And everything you had got destroyed
But you're just a boy

I caaaaaant staaaaaand it!!!!

Oh man, this is too funny. Another song I hated was Laffy Taffy, hearing it would literally make me sick. Once I was in my room and my cousins came out of nowhere and held me down on my bed and another one of them came in blasting Laffy Taffy on his phone! My ears were raped!

Yes, I also detest Chad Kroeger and his generic sounding, depressing "band."

Amen to that!

I despised 'The Man Who Can't Be Moved' by the Script... actually, I despise the Script, period. 'The Man Who Can't Get His Own Damn Life', more like it. Also, every time I hear the cover of 'Hallelujah' that's on the radio right now, it makes me want to ill something. And DANCE music. If it can indeed be called music (although I have to admit I would hate it a lot less if my classmate didn't think we all wanted to listen to it every frigging morning on the bus).

I really did think Avril Lavigne was better when she started out. A LOT better. (Of course... I was 12...and it's not like she could be much worse right now...)

True, but Nas and Jay can only keep making albums for so long. Hopefully Lupe won't stick to what he's been saying about his next album being his last. Lord help the true hip-hop fans when the standard bearers become the likes of Lil Wayne or Kanye West (neither of which I particularly care for).

Fair enough. I tend to prefer hip-hop that's metaphorically dense where the track provides a subtle backdrop to a talented lyricist. The only other genre I really listen to is classical (Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Zimmer), it's nice to exchange lyrics for just rousing orchestral arrangement sometimes.

Yes, let's hope Scott Stapp, Chad Kroeger, and Soulja Boy are in the same place when those dogs attack. That's "your sacrafice" right there Scott. Yeah, can't "superman dat hoe" outta that one. Take a photograph of that, Chad!

I hate that Single Ladies song so much. "Repetitive and obnoxious" pretty much sums it up. About the Sasha Fierce thing, I guess you can publish pretty much whatever the hell you want when you're married to The Jiggaman. Also, "weird" seems to be the new in-thing these days.

Ha, TLC might've well called that song "Material Girl '98", it was basically the same as Madonna's song. There are a lot of songs I didn't really like when they were first released, like songs from The Spice Girls and Lovefool by The Cardigans, but hearing them now has that nostalgic value so...now I...actually sort of...like them...:uneasy:

I grew up listening to a lot of rap, and I can't stand people saying 2Pac was the greatest rapper of all time! I like some of his songs, but I can't help but think that most of his fans are bandwagon riders who've never heard of Nas, Jay-Z, Rakim, KRS-One, Notorious BIG, and Public Enemy. 'Pac was popular because of his subject matter, and that's overrated, compared to flow and wordplay in my opinion.

That being said, I hate "Lollipop" by Lil' Wayne, and Soulja Gay's "Kiss Me Thru The Phone."

This. Every time I try to find something decent to listen to in the car, it's an ordeal. It's time to find that lost iPod.

But I particularly hate emo bands, inane pop, "touching" singers (a la Sarah MacLachlan - ugh!), Bruce Springsteen-style Americana, country music in general, and what my mum and I have termed "hangover voice" - those awful male singers who whine ad nauseam about their failed and/or successful relationships. As a country music fan, I have to disagree with some of the prior posters....but, I will second (or third or fourth) my complete and utter disdain for Taylor Swift.

Of note:

"A Love Story" - she's talking about how she's in an Romeo/Juliet situation, and then throws in a line about her being "the Scarlet Letter". Obviously, she's not learning American Lit in her home-schooling tutoring while on tour. I'm pretty sure a 17 y.o isn't involved in adultery; and if she is, then the song wouldn't end with her getting engaged to her Romeo. This is worse than mixing metaphors. She can't even keep her allusions in order.

"Picture to Burn" - so she and her bf breaks up. He's telling everyone she's psycho-crazy (what 17 y.o girl isn't?), so she retaliates by telling everyone he's gay. Ok, so yeah, talk about juvenile. And of course, homophobic rednecks and fundie fans aren't offended by this line, but could we imagine what sort of noise would be made if she replaced the line and instead told everyone he was a "Jew"?

Anyways, she's a 17 y.o vapid bimbo who can only strum chords on her guitar and everyone wants to hail her as the next Dolly Parton. (Like she even has 1/2 the talent in her body that Dolly Parton gets rid of when she farts).

Well, as we used to say back home: HELL TO THE NAW ON THAT!

Jeez, what's that song... the one that went "then you wouldn't have to say I love you cause I'd already know". Ah, Extreme- More than Words

Essentially a scuzbag's song to get the girl into the sack. Classy.

Everything by Lady Gaga. I really don't understand how she got famous. She is ugly, she can't sing, she can't dance.

Toni Braxton's Unbreak My Heart. It's the worst song I've ever heard. Actually, Amy Winehouse is worse, but I've already said that.

I hate all modern pop music. I can only stand the heavily lyrical rap(e.g. Eminem, Jay-Z), not the stuff that repeats one verse over and over and focuses on an extremely irritating beat- Lil' Wayne's "Lollipop" comes to mind. Two songs I can't stand are "Single Ladies" by Beyonce and "So What" by P!nk (what the hell is with the exclamation point?!)(I like to substitute other marks when I type it: P?nk, P^nk, P£nk :)).

 Fuck, I hate that song too...

Anything by Dave Mathews or Phish....sounds like Dockers and Patchouli oil.

Alanis Morissette - Ironic...has the stupidest lyrics ever written. "It's a no-smoking sign on your cigarette break. It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife."

Taylor Swift is particularly annoying, partly because people are currently obsessed with her where I live. The Cranberries can be okay, in small doses. P!nk used to be sort of all right, but then she starting writing whiny, generically sentimental drivel. And yes, Dave Matthews is horrendously bad, despite being fashionable among the "I-have-good-taste-because-my-daddy's-in-the-recording-industry" crowd. I used to like Alanis Morissette, until I got into literary analysis. That song killed it for me.

Just about every shitty pop song that has come out from the radio in 20 years. There are so many of these terribly shallow and generally atrocious songs that I cannot name them all. They are just a fad anyways: staying on the radio for at most six months before never being heard again, seriously.

Ever heard of that song that goes 'I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a something, I'm a something, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint...?'

I don't know what it's called, but ew.

I'm Yours by Jason Mraz. I feel like the only person in the whole world who hates that fucking song. It sucks so much that having Chad Kroeger, Scott Stapp, and Soulja Boy add guest vocals would actually make it a million times better. Then again, that's like multiplying an atom by a million. You'd need a fucking scanning probe microscope to see the difference.

Most songs by Steve Miller Band and Dave Matthews band. Queen got old with me really fast. Can't stand Journey or Peter Frampton solo. I also think that AC/DC is way overrated.

"Hey there, Delilah" or whatever it is called

anything where the singer is whining more than singing, anything by Pink, and I would be just fine not hearing any more Dave Mathews Band

Almost all rap songs, and most of what's on the radio. I remember especially hating Rihanna's "Umbrella" until All Time Low covered it.
