What does everyone think about polygamy?
Personally, I have no qualms with it, so long as everyone in the marriage is there by choice.

Do you mean polyamory? Not to offend your intelligence, if you already knew, but polygamy means "multiple women". Polyamory is the general term for romantic relationships involving more than two people. If that's what you were going for, check out this (recent) thread (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.).

Do you mean polygyny? Not to offend your intelligence but polygamy technically means "multiple marriages" or "multiple spouses" :smartass:
Polygyny is the specific term for multiple wives, notice that it's a contraction of poly(multiple) and gyne(woman) as in gynecology, gynocentrism etcetera
I like the concept of polygamy, all my life I've wanted to have an entire polygynistic paradise all to myself and my variety of lovely wives, oh how that would be heaven. Because of times when people's lives get invaded by law enforcement who occasionally actually bother to enforce that blue law, I hate that polygamy is illegal in many parts of the world, and I find it ironic that the people who make it into bigamy most often belong to religions that technically supported polygamy back when their imaginary friend was the one calling the shots.

From what I understand, my great-great-great...great^n grandfather was just one man who came to a country on a Viking boat. In a few hundred years, his surname went on to become one of the most common ones in the nation, by sheer multiplication.
I guess that's in the blood, because I really like the idea of having a lot of kids. To that end, I consciously turn away from women over a certain age, and, if I did end up bonding with a woman over that certain age, I'd almost definitely run the polygamy idea by her.
Enough single men are wary about the wife/kids situation that it somewhat justifies taking extra wives, because other men aren't guaranteed to marry them. Also, if you're going to have many children, I think it's more sensible for several woman to have a smaller amount of children, spaced further apart, rather than a single woman having a "one in her, one on her, one holding her hand" situation.
The main reason that I don't consider it more seriously is that adding "finds polygamy acceptable" to the list of qualities I'm looking for in a woman would narrow my field even more, and I wouldn't coerce a woman into it.

I think if you could get women to agree to it, you would quickly be overwhelmed by powerstruggles, nagging, and would actually get very little sex. Maybe you should try a more European affair. One "socially advantageous" wife and a few mistresses.

Sounds like masochism to me. The guys down in southern Utah appear to like it.

Seriously. One is bad enough.
