View Full Version : The Correlation of Romantic Interest to Humor

I saw something like this on INTP Central, and was wondering how it would apply here.
EDIT: Huh, apparently we can't edit poll options, that kind of sucks. Assume that the second "Female INTJ" option is actually "Female non-INTJ".

How 'bout an option that says "...Doesn't stare blankly at my humor" ;)

That would be redundant, since we've already got a "laughs at my jokes". :P

I don't care if they laugh, just don't look at me like I have two heads!
"Why did the INTJ cross the road?
Because it seemed like the logical thing to do!" :stunned:

That made me laugh. I don't know what it is about INTJ humor, but damn it makes me laugh almost every time. My favorite is still Heero's "Fe Core" lyrics (a take off of hard/nerdcore music)

Having interacted with a few F types lately, I can safely say I want a female INTJ, with a sense of humour.
Picked "Female INTJ: Mutually assured laughter."

Fixed.

Um, does the type/gender choice refer to you, or what you would prefer? I voted mutually assured laughter, couldn't care less about type as long as she's a, well, she.I'm pretty much of the opinion that most people would want MAL, without regard to type or gender.

Either way, it seems like most of you prefer mutually assured laughter. :P Which means that either INTP Central's poll would have benefited from that option in it, or they have more extreme preferences. Interesting.

Someone who gets my jokes, period.
Or rather, someone who laughs at my dark, twisted humor instead of becoming apalled and recoiling in uncomfortable horror.

duh mutually assured. who wants to laugh at someones jokes but never have their own laughed at?

i want mutual exchanges of laughter so just to keep the fun burning. it would be tiring if i'm the only one bringing the laughter. i may have the best humor in town according to most people i know however if it takes my partner eons to get a joke, i'd rather listen to growing grass. it would be nice if he's a funny guy as well just to keep the show.

I prefer mutually assured laughter, but I definitely take notice when a guy laughs at my jokes. That has actually happened recently and I think my jaw actually dropped when I heard him laughing his ass off at the things I was saying. Usually no one has a clue that I'm joking - they just think I'm being mean or serious and my "jokes" make them uncomfortable I guess.

Mutually assured laughter. A guy has to be able to make me laugh, and he's gotta get my sense of humor for it to work. In part because if he doesn't get my sense of humor he'll probably become very offended very quickly. :undecided:

My husband and I prefer vastly different types of humour (which I felt was OK since humour was never a top priority for me in a mate). I like dark, quick, understated, witty, implied. He likes physical humour, playing around, etc. We do make each other laugh, but it doesn't characterize our relationship. My brother and I have the same type of humour and we'd be KILLING ourselves while our mom and dad, his wife, and my husband were all glancing at each other awkwardly.

Not to sidetrack the thread (well, maybe a little), but why is "make me laugh" such a high priority for so many? For me, I would prefer "help me think", or "share our thoughts" over laughing.
Just a thought.

Yep, I agree. I always wondered why humour was always listed by my friends before say,... treats me well, doesn't lie to me (that I know of ), probably isn't going to bankrupt me, hasn't stalked his exes, etc. Then once all the really bad stuff is out of the way... share our minds.

Of course, that's obvious. But the poll options were related to humour and romance. If I had to choose, I'd obviously pick intelectual stimulation before humour.

Non-INTJ male mutually assured laughter, because frankly, if you can make me laugh, you're amazing enough for me to procreate with.
