Microsoft screwed up and all their 30g Zunes are crashing when their clocks tick over to midnight. And apparently a crashed Zune doesn't un-crash. They're in a race against time to save the Zunes still surviving in Europe and America! :p

Ha! The Zunes kind of sucked anyways.

ha I guess that's a good thing because my sister's husband got his stolen. So whoever took his is screwed over for now. I wonder what they're going to do if the problem isnt' resolved? Would be fun to see if they sent everyone new ones! This is while Ipod IMO are the way to go and I wouldn't even be into the Ipod if my best friend hadn't given me one.

The problem was rather minor issue with the way the internal clock was programed (or rather, was not programed) to handle leap years. From all reports I've read and due to a rather small programming error that came from parts a re-branded Toshiba Gigabeat used in the PMP.
The problem also simply resolved itself with the New Year and is no longer an issue. While I have read no report of a planned firmware update to resolve this issue before next leap year, I think it is fairly safe to assume such an update will be issued sometime before said time.

That's funny, but terrible... That's why Microsoft sucks, because they can't have a good product without some bug destroying it. Has the iPod had anything like this? No.
Yes, that's another age-old anti-Microsoft rant, but I never liked the Zune either. ;)

Just to play the devil's advocate the iPod isn't perfect either and it has shipped with a windows virus (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. Didn't the IPods have an update that made them into a paperweight?
O and what about all the problems IPods had with their batteries?
-It might have been the IPod Touch

This is truly quite horrific! If the Zune was missing something as important as leap years, imagine what else it might be missing! All things considered, I'd be pissed out of my mind if my music player ever decided to stop working.

That's not entirely true. There have been times when they've come up with genuinely good products, such as Windows XP, which do exactly what they need to do and no more or less. Unfortunately for them, things seem to have changed since. I'm not sure if this is because or why Microsoft is now diversifying so much, but I've personally grown tired of their ineptitude.
