I thought this (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) was pretty funny, only because it's true. I play a lot of WoW (World of Warcraft) solo, so I thought it was interesting that I always pick damage dealing classes or hybrids (Rogues, Mages, and of course, Shamans). It's tongue-in-cheek, so don't expect any Jungian pyschoanalysis, but I thought it was interesting, so I'll pass it on.

I played WoW long ago, and the classes I really hit it off with were rogue and mage, simply because they were massive damage dealers, but also survival gurus.

Today I play Guild Wars. You can find me on almost every profession in guild wars except for dervish, mesmer, and elementalist (for some reason, I don't particularly enjoy them). However, my (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) main (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. The ranger is perhaps the most versatile (literally, everything another class can do, a ranger can do or imitate) and if used properly, the most powerful class in the game (but any class used properly can be ridiculously powerful).

I just started playing WoW again, before my main was a rogue (my fav class in the game) because I feel safe playing one, by that I mean I know I can always survive, jump off a hill and stealth, sprint away until I can stealth etc...

Right now i'm currently playing a hunter which i'm really liking because again I feel safe due to the long range, everything attacks my pet and in pvp if someone gets close to me I freeze strap or wing clip and get my distance and do huge DPS again. Pretty fun game *nerdy smirk*

When I did play WoW, I played Rogue (main) and my alt was a Hunter. Hunter was by far the easiest class for me to solo with.

Currently, I'm playing WAR, and I'm playing a Shadow Warrior. I love it!

I tried playing WoW three different times now, never could get into it.

Right now I'm playing WaR as a White Lion.

For some strange reason I kind of want to go back to EVE Online, which is probably the most complicated MMO I've seen. It may as well be its own operating system.

Yes, I actually play both. I love Necromancer/Mesmers, though, because of shutdown. I can disable any caster and then they are practically useless. Healer, say goodbye to your entire team... I always liked "disabling" classes. I guess it's just patient strategy on my part acted out subtly, to quickly disable (skills and/or kills) without making a huge noise or making a huge deal about it (unlike Warriors who will obliterate enemies with full rage/adrenaline, corny speeches, and lots of armor in a couple hits). I like feeling powerful in these games, but not with flair and the feeling of truly engaging enemies one-on-one. I like to be almost invisible, but dangerous. I know that sounds strange, but hopefully it makes sense to someone... ;)

OMG finally, someone else playing WAR! And I know what you mean... WoW got two shots from me, both times I was incredibly bored and tired of grinding.

Part of me wants to return to Dark Age of Camelot... The lack of population doesn't really bother me. =)

I need to give EVE Online a try sometime.....

I want to try it too. Sadly, I would need to download another massive trial client and make a trial account. During this time, my Mac would explode under the sheer agony of having yet another 22g client on it along with my Guild Wars one and WoW.

Yes, I'm running GW on a Mac. Look up "Crossover Games" on Google and see the awesomeness for yourself. :)

EVE looks really complicated, however. I would need to relearn a game so unorthodox... I think I'm up to it, however.

WoW does get boring, i've never been past level 30, except when I played the private servers just to experiment with end game pvp with every type of char. The best game I ever played was called Asheron's Call, one of the most underrated games i've ever played, no one even knows what it is. It had the most unique PVP system i've ever played and it was based 100% on skill, you had total control of every attack you did, everyone developed their own casting style and everything and the best always won. Unlike WoW where usually the guy with the best gear wins and highest level. On a level 60 character I could kill a level 126 character (max) level off skill alone. (This would be equiv to a level 30 in WoW killing an 80).

DaoC was a good game, same with Ultima Online and EQ. Haven't tried Warhammer yet.

The highest I've gotten in WoW was 55. That was after my friend convinced me to come back so he could give it a try...

I've heard of Asheron's Call but haven't played it.

Warhammer still has its quirks... So much so that I sacked my Rank 36 Sorceress to reroll on the other side. =P

lolololololol....... ok, this is the FUNNIEST thread i have encountered in a long time......

the Opening Thread was for WoW... and 9 consecutive responses have been about how "WoW is not for them"...

to me, that's kinda funny... i recently replied to a WoW thread somewhere else about how the anti-WoW posters will usually come out on a WoW thread...

*sigh*

... so for me, i play in a high lvl guild, over 2 yrs long, and know the guild leaders and officers personally...

... i started as a night elf rogue for about a month and only got to about lvl 22 before i almost gave up on the game...

only when i bumped into, my now current, guild leader at work did i change over to the dark side and made a tauren warrior... and i've been with them ever since...

the breakdown:
60 Tauren Warrior (Arms/Defense)... i was spec'd Arms/Fury for the longest time
58 Undead Warlock (Afflic/Destro)
43 Undead Rogue (Stealth/Combat)
13 Belf Priest
5 Undead Warrior

i've been playing my warlock a lot, which i love... i don't seem as concerned on armor as much as i am concentrating on how much DPS i put out... and believe me, i can already put out a lot of destruction...

my rogue is fun, but being solo a lot, gets kinda boring...

Warrior is just fun all the way around... i don't have to rebuff, just go in swinging, slashing, and tanking... the only times i really have to stop is either if my bags are full or i need repair...

<sighs and raises a hand> Hi my name is Szarra and I'm an MMORPG addict.

I'm currently playing WoW again. I started over on another server so my main is a lvl 20 Blood Elf, Hunter. I also have a lvl 20 Tauren, Druid. I like both but the Hunter is much better for solo. One is jewel crafting and the other is leather working. I've never gotten very high in level because I can never find the time to group.

I played WaR for a short time and got really bored/annoyed with the game. I was really hoping for another DAoC but it fell far short of my expectations. If my old guild on DAoC hadn't gone the way of the Dodo I'd be there still. :(

I'm on Magnus with my guild in WaR. EVE is a very challenging game to play. Very steep learning curve.

Whole different game at maximum level, and probably far more enjoyable than leveling. Most hardcore players fly through leveling with music blaring, surrounded by a half a dozen beer cans, and half AFK. Honestly I do not enjoy it; with my druid I just bound my mousewheel to mangle and watched TV most of the time.

Its building an intelligently itemized, speced, enchanted player that I find rewarding, but honestly I'm running out of patience with narcissism and "srs bizness" approaches that dominate virtually every guild capable of putting together a 10 man. And IMO this nastiness and ego-involvement in my doll of pixels doesn't get anything done.

I play a druid tank, some kitty with friends. Druid is 80 and is decently geared. I played a mage for about 6 months and got bored with it, couldn't decide if I wanted to reroll a healer or a tank so rolled a druid. I kind of wish I had rolled a warrior but oh well. I'm kind of over it, TBH, its just one huge grind after another, but I just can't stop playing in downtimes.

Hi my name is Henry, and over the past two years I've spent over a 1400 hours on WoW in the past 2 years. And the funny thing is that I barely even enjoy it, its just a social network I enjoy. So don't feel too bad.

Same here... I enjoyed the PvE content in DAoC though... Since yesterday's patch I'm pretty sure me and my friend are gonna go back.... I don't really care if there isn't a massive amount of people there.... As long as I can get to DF I'll be happy. =P

Starting to look like DAoC is going to be the only one that I really enjoy playing. WoW didn't do it, and WAR is very frustrating at times... Especially with their nerfs/buffs lately. :irked:

I'm going to wager that in January I'll be going back to DAoC... I have a Level 50 Norse Valk, a Level 50 Norse Hunter, a Level 50 Firbolg Druid, a Level 45 Paladin, and a Thane and Skald I was working on...

Sigh... where is my DAoC 2! =P

Dang... Was searching old screen shots, but none from WoW. I managed to make my rogue look just like me (face). =P

Started playing in EU betas and played orc hunter since then. Played quite actively at my servers top guild in vanilla, skipped tbc due my military service and just plain boredom, got back for woltk, and now again on a "break" since we cleared all the current content.

Regarding my choice of class, I chose hunter since I have never liked magical spellcasters in any game, they always seem weak and situational, but yet again I think its smarter to shoot things from range than going in melee and take dmg.

For me it's most rewarding to read the theorycraft, optimize my gear and trying squeeze the most dps I possibly can. In PVP I like to let people think that they know what I'm suppose to do next and do opposite or just something different what they are expecting.

Druid Druid Druid Druid, Paladin Paladin Paladin Paladin.

No im not emphasizing.. I had 4 druids and 4 paladins (over the course of the time I played which was from release till about 3 months ago).. I quit wow.. It is a waste of time...It is just the same thing over and over. Once I stopped looking at the guts of wow and started looking at the system in which it is created, It really just sucked.. In fact there aren't many games that I can play much anymore, aside from nostalgic games every so often. I find myself looking at the creation of games and really wanting to build them myself.

BTW - Druids win every time - most versatile if built correctly can be the most dominate class in the game

And paladins never die...ever....no really .. NEVER...and we make the best tanks if built correctly.. noone belives it but the math proves true, at least it did when I played. I could MT first 5 bosses in BT.. probably all of them, however never made it that far because people FAIL AT LIFE AND CANNOT UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF A FUCKING IMAGINARY LINE ON BLOODBOIL!!!!!!!!!!!! stupid fools....

Anyway yeah WoW is the best game for gamers, im a gamer, its awesome, but holy crap when looked at realistically its such a waste of time.

I played a lvl 50 Saracen Infilitrator (Szarra), lvl 50 Inconnu Necromancer (Saryis) and a lvl ?? Highlander Mercenary (Marcessa). I also had a low lvl Briton Friar (Ketra) who became a tailor instead of saving the realm.

My favorite thing to do was sneak up to the oil bucket of an enemy keep, drop a "bomb" and run away. It never did much dmg but it's a rather annoying little dot.

Unfortunetly, I have a severe case of altitus. So I don't even have a 60 yet and I've been playing off and on for about 2 years now I think.. I can play pretty much any class pretty well, with the exception of warriors. I can't stand playing them, can't live for more than 10 seconds soloing, and when I do live my health is at 1%. Of course the highest I got a warrior was 12 so who knows...Mainly I play Shaman (55) Mage (51) Warlock (32) Rogue (23) Priest (21). Soon death knight too, once I can get the Wotlk client on my comp. The programmers made the client auto-download on C:, which doesn't have enough space, while my client is downloaded on another drive. So it won't install. There is no option to change the installation directory. Wish tech support didn't take 5 days. >.<

Holy crap! I forgot my very first ever character I leveled to 50... I originally had a Briton Friar (Korvyna), I loved that class. I love how my thread has severely deviated into other games, so I'm going to change the title to reflect that...

I just started a Hunter, and they are amazing. You get to shoot mobs from far away, Wing Clip them, keep shooting, poison them... It is the most annoyingly fun class I have ever played, you can just DoT, stun, and snare your enemy, all the while they can't do anything. Also, your pet acts as a tank, so you never have to worry about aggro until your pet dies. The DPS on Hunters is amazing as well.

They are probably the best solo class, even better than Rogues or Mages, because of their phenomenal DPS and the sheer power they exhibit. Wow, I can't believe I didn't roll one sooner. Here I was thinking that Hunters are just a stupid class with a painful-to-manage pet, but it really isn't that bad. :)

Oh, yeah, I forgot, the misanthropist who hates groups:
...If you really want to solo, take a look at the Hunter class since it's one of the better solo classes.

Wow, that explains why Hunter fits me best.
Also, I love having a pet. It is effectively my tank, and I am effectively the priest with DPS. It's ridiculously amazing when my cat dies and respawns with Heart of the Phoenix, which lets a BM hunter take on most group quests solo.

Yeah, same here. I'm not so much damage-obsessed as much as one would think; I like the solo aspects of the class quite a lot. Hunters are ridiculously capable solo. :)

That's the best part about Hunters, actually, is the pet. A tank that absorbs aggro and keeps you unharmed? Quite awesome. :)
