Hey all,

I just found out that, even though I thought I was an INTJ according to MBTI, I was looking at socionics. Can anyone tell me the difference between the MBTI P and J, and how they differ from the Socionic P and J?

Thanks in advance,

BF

Edit:

Apparently .. "If you're an introvert whatever you think you are in MBTI switch the last letter and that's what you are in Socionics."

Socionics primary functions..

Ti Ne LII (logical intuitive introvert) "Analyst" INTj
Ni Te ILI (intuitive logical introvert) "Critic / Observer" INTp

MBTI and INTJ make the primary Ni and the secondary Te. The difference between J/P is here - To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts._.28J-P.29

* The original MBTI abbreviation was not included in the table for a very specific reason - to avoid spreading JP/jp confusion further: If a person knows very little about Type, i.e. only the MBTI acronym (i.e. from tests), then it is most likely that they would use the acronym from 'S-Type' column, since it looks more familiar. This should work. If however a person already knows and concerned about MBTI Type dynamics, then they should and possibly would use the 'Fn' column to find corresponding S-Type. Hopefully this table would answer the MBTI/Socionics conversion questions for many.

...

I took the Turbo Socionics test and saw this as the last question and the supposed difference between their J/P

There are people that:

Plan ahead but act impulsively following the situation • Often act without any preparation at all • A new day, a new life, a new them • Have difficulties with commitments • Choose to have freedom from responsibilities and obligations • Often struggle to find a steady balance between own emotional and intellectual self - this gives you a socionics P

There are people that:

Plan a schedule ahead and tend to follow it • Very good at keeping own promises and appointments • Do not like to leave unanswered questions • Do not like to change own decisions • Easily follow established rules and guidelines • Often struggle to find a steady balance between own physical and spiritual self - This gives you a J

Its a bit brief but might help...I had to go with the P and I tick those points the most I think. I definitely like to had a plan before I do anything, if theres to big of an unknown I probably won't do it, but once I'm in my element anything could happen.

"Easily follow established rules and guidelines • Often struggle to find a steady balance between own physical and spiritual self - This gives you a J" haha rules, if only I could follow them and what on earth is the spiritual self? ;)

------------------

Found this : Socionics J/P is related to your dominant function, and MBTI J/P is related to the outside world. So if you are an NiTe type, you are suppossed to be INTP in socionics but INTJ in MBTI. This doesn't always work, however, because people have mixed meanings of the introverted types. Over at **************** (an MBTI site), they took Gulenko's socionic descriptions of the INTP and INTJ types to see what the correlation was. About half of the MBTI INTPs identified with the socionic INTP, and the other half identified with the socionic INTJ. This is where all the confusion is. Even people within the MBTI system cannot seperate themselves. from To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

socionics somehow fucks up the cog functions and gives intj Ti lead.

Yeah, INTJ and INTP are switched for some reason in socionics.

All the introverted functions are switched, not just INTJ and INTP. If you're an IxxJ in MBTI, you're IxxP in socionics and vice versa, according to the functions. The functions of extroverts are unchanged, however.

I'm definitely Ti first and Te lower down. Ti appears to lean more towards the Ni.

And I'm absolutely INTJ.

Te seems more for Sensor functions, but there's no too much difference if you ask me...

As follows

Ti
Analyzing; categorizing; evaluating according to principles and whether something fits the framework or model; figuring out the principles on which something works; checking for inconsistencies; clarifying definitions to get more precision.

or

Thinking people make decisions based on logic, so the Introverted thinking function allows a person to categorize and analyze data. Is it the ability to identify inconsistencies, know how things work and problem-solve.

Te

Ordering; organizing for efficiency; systematizing; applying logic; structuring; checking for consequences; monitoring for standards or specifications being met; setting boundaries, guidelines, and parameters; deciding if something is working or not. (this is all very J and more leaning towards the S).

or

Thinking people make decisions based on logic, so the Extraverted thinking function allows a person to organize and categorize things, thoughts or arguments. It is the ability to see the logical consequences of actions. It follows sequence and organization.
