Meet Dex. We picked him up on Saturday. He'd been at the SPCA for two weeks, he's a year and a few months old, and his fur feels like silk - we suspect he's got some Maine coon & Russian blue in him. He seems to be adapting to the new place and getting on with the others (with the exception of The Old Bastard, Angus- who doesn't even like himself he's so ornery).

These are from yesterday - before we went at him with the brushes.

Hello Dexter. It's nice to meet you.

Dexter is cool. My wife are fond of our three cats. They are interesting creatures to say the least.

Good luck with your cat, I hate mine. He reminds me too much of myself - bitchy and catty and he absolutely hates me. :(

But yours look much nicer, I like long haired cats.

Dexter and I say thank you :)

Oh, he really is stunning. I'm guessing "the others" are cats or other pets. How many do you have?

Gah, golden cat eyes! They look like reddish glass backed with gold foil. :o

It looks like he wants to kick your ass in that first picture. *;D

I must say I really like cats too. I grew with them and if my current landlord would let me I'd own one myself.

Here's my cat (lives at my parents place). She's called "Tiger" and is 18 years old.

Very nice cat. I love them, but my dad and sister are allergic so I basically never get to see them. Quite a shame.

OMG, did he really make icanhazcheezeburger? No way! My husband will @#IT! lol

He's a great cat. He saw the vet yesterday for his 'new cat' appointment, he's 12.6 pounds and the best natured cat I've ever owned - that includes Frank of the Good Temperment.

I am offiical a Cat Lady. We have four. Two are 14 yo, both orange, one long haired, one short. And Frank, who's 14 months, coloured like a cow, and now Dex (named after Dexter Morgan, the Showtime serial killer!)

Dex purred yesterday for the first time. He also tried to help me bake Halloween cookies.

Wow he's (Dexter) BIG.
I love gray coats. They're so sleek, and yet not as plain as black.
Know where he likes to be scratched yet? :D

Never used to like cats. Until i started working at a vet clinc. Their charm has grown on me like bacteria in cow rumen.
I've wanted to take in a few from the clinic (some dumb asses decided they "couldn't afford" to treat the cat's allergies, so they decided to give him a couple of shots of euthanasia). Unfortunately, my Febie would probably shred poor pylon/cheddar/jupiter/juniper (we renamed him... or... we tried and failed to decide on one name, he's a big chubby orange tabby) up.

He's big and now that he's comfortable he likes to eat. A lot. We think he may be a 20 pounder one day - his paws are ginormous.

As for his favourite scratched places? You name it, he likes it. He's a hand whore ;)

I have a soft spot for orange tabbies. The next one we get will be called William. William the Orange. Funny how some cats are easy to name and others... Dexter was Fergus for 12 hours when we brought him home. Frank was always Frank - She looked like a ferret as a wee kitteh which made both of us freaks think "Ferret Face" -> Frank Burns. She is officially Frank E.G. (Evil Genius) Burns.

He looks like he's about 17 already... maybe it's just the fur.
Franks is such a great name for a ferret. And hence a great name for a cat that looks like a ferret.
I picked up the "she". So other people name their animals names of the opposite gender too?! I named my male dog Genie (after our late Genie the first) And saw no problem with it considering the Genie in Aladdin was male. It's so annoying when I go to the vet's and she keeps thinking he's a girl.

Yes, I think if the name fits, to hell with the gender. I had a 15 yo female tabby named Maxwell until last year. Calling Frank "Frank" was no stretch after that :D
