Just found my forum profile on google when I tried finding other "intj louisville ky" and also realized that my handle is too easily tied to me. The intj search shows me at #3. The ClydeB handle by itself is at #2. While I am ok with sharing personal info on the forum, I am not comfortable having it googled up by anyone and tied to me. I do give the non INTJ's of the world some credit for thought.

Would it be possible to one or both of the following?

1. Prevent my profile from being read by search engines.
2. Change/obfuscate my handle to something else?

Thanks.

I really don't think that hiding your profile is even possible, but either way such is the nature of a public forum and this is the choice you make when you fill in those details.

However, if you do want to change your name, using the "Contact an Administrator" (http://intjforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=52) is probably the best way.

Individuals can't hide their own profiles but I believe it can be made a board-wide setting that profiles are only viewable to logged-in members. So ask an admin about that, or..

..change or remove your location information? No one said it had to be a real place. :P

No.

You can send a request to an administrator.

It isn't possible at this time, but options to make certain sections of members profiles public, members only or friends only (yes, the friends list is actually going to have a function) will become available after our next major vBulletin upgrade.

Ooh, does this mean all us INTJ's are going to have to develop some Fe pretty damn quick in order to fill our friends lists up? Can't wait :scared:

I changed my handle (from my first name to something unknowable) in the special thread.

edit: .. which I now see has vanished, so never mind :)

I don't think it's vanished, last I saw it was just locked.

Jez's last comments were that you could achieve the same via the contact an admin forum, as per my earlier comments.
