I'm thinking about getting this phone for Christmas. It was between this and a iphone. I hate apple.

Exactly, this is why I dislike apple. So I choose to go with something effective and functional instead of stylish and ..... crappy.

Actually the only reason I decided against an iPhone was the monthly price. If you have any sort of ingenuity there are ways of getting the iPhone to do.. pretty much whatever you want (including using it on another carrier). And no, it's not illegal, you'll just void your warranty. :D I unlocked my iPod touch (has the same software, basically) so I could use freeware on it.

What you speak of is called Jail Breaking, and if I got a iPhone I would be Jail Breaking.

I got the HTC Magician a couple of years ago and it's a pretty solid phone. The only trouble I had was with freaking windows mobile.

(I'm back to using my simple old phone; I realized I have an mp3 player for music, a camera for pictures and a computer for the internet. With a telephone, I call people.)
