I was wondering... do you guys plan your goals to fit your lifestyle and temperament or compromise in some way if said goals are fundamentally incompatible with the INTJ lifestyle?

My great passion is cinema and I would give an arm to direct my own movies. I feel that I could do it because of my INTJ Mastermind nature and the capability to see relationships and converge very different things from different field for a common goal.

On the other hand, my introverted temperament makes it difficult to accomplish. You need to be able to extrovert yourself to direct. People must know what you want.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that a lot of successful actors and directors are or were INTx, such as Clint Eastwood and Arnold Schwarznegger (!). So I guess it is not the handicap I think it is.

Any fellow goalsetters with the same problem? :)

the only personality limitations are the ones you put on yourself--if you want to be extroverted go out and do it, if you want to be more organized go out and do it. there is no reason why one can't develop those lesser areas and turn weaknesses into strengths. i set my goals to what I desire regardless of how i am living my life now or who i am now--this sets my goals up as the motors of change within my life

I agree with the above statement. After all you are the mastermind. Any thing you want to learn to do is within your grasp.

I also am interested in film as a career, but more on the computer generated side of it. I see infinite possibilities with computer generated films because it allows full control of plot, characters, etc. I think the thing I have a problem with in real films is that the production is so inefficient. They're like a bad reaction in chemistry with heat (money) flying everywhere.

Hope that helps. I think that INTJ's are more capable of stretching themselves to other types if need be. Use your mind and you will get far.

You will be fine. As a director will will limit what you say to what is concise, necessary and well thought out ahead fo time. Your INTJness will be a benefit. If that is what you want to do just start working in that direction and there is no reason why you cant.
